This past weekend while having breakfast, I couldn't resist the cute little Junco's that have returned recently. They returned about two weeks ago, they always seem to know when the winter is coming....and they were right. Yes....that is snow in the background, as we had our first snowfall. At one point I had upwards of 20 Junco's on the sill. And their song is so pretty. I couldn't resist not posting their cute pictures.
Then it got quite....and everyone cleared. A new suspect showed up.
The food chain just got bigger!!!
Oh thy're all so cute and pretty and then the gorgeous fella there at the end. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh wow. Birds and snow, the two things I don't have outside my window but wish I had.
ReplyDeleteI have crows in my area. Unfortunately, if I took a picture of them you'd see how dirty the parking lot in my complex has gotten lately. I noticed they were dining from a pizza box this morning.
Birds, yes my dear you want those.
DeleteSnow? No my dear you do not. Because if you had snow outside of your window, I would as well. No snow! Not here in San Diego.
I always love your amazing bird photos - and now that winter has arrived (unofficially)I'm glad your feathered friends have a safe place to eat.
ReplyDeletedon't tell him that...he loves sharing his bird pictures.
DeleteDon't you have nails to be filing Moorecock?
DeleteWow. What a neighborhood! Your bird feeding always brings back sweet memories of our time in Connecticut. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love hearing the juncos on the window sill. They are so adorable. But what is that HIGE bird??? A hawk?????
ReplyDeletea red-tailed hawk; I have one in my back yard also.
DeleteThis was the first time I saw one so close to the windows. I do believe he left empty mouthed. The juncos are Wiley little ones
DeleteJuncos sure are cute little birds, we have them here too. How did you ever manage to get a picture of the hawk!?!?! Pretty but was he after the little ones?
ReplyDeleteyes he was. mine feasts on mourning doves.
DeleteHawks, yes I remember having to run from those myself back in my younger days.
ReplyDeleteA chicken hawk no doubt.
DeleteAh, we get some real beauties (hawks) around here. Love them - I tried to get a pic of one sitting on the block wall of my back yard - he was too far away....
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful, wonderful day. Hugs!!
We get a hawk visitor too, he will sit on the feeders - not sure he is too bright... :-)
ReplyDeleteLol!!!!!!!
DeleteI sure hope that hawk didn't get any of those little juncos. Very cute little things.
ReplyDeleteThat hawk looks awfully close to your windows. Very cool pictures though.
ReplyDeleteFeeding the juncos means that the hawk will have some great meals all winter. Sorted! Jx
ReplyDeleteThanks again, Mistress, for the birdy porn. It always pulls me out of a very blue funk! I adore hawks! Around here, they are a welcome relief from the sparrows, pigeons and black birds or crows (I can't tell one from the other). I just hope they don't mistake my dog for a rabbit :) Of course, they may eat small dogs too.
ReplyDeleteI have heard stories around here of hawks taking little dogs.thank goodness buster is not big.
DeleteI love the shots of the little birds in the tree. I can't believe you manage to get the shots you do so close to the windows.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I sensed he was there and looked up and there he was. I can spot birds just driving.
DeleteThose are some pretty cool pictures Mistress. The hawk against the snow is beautiful....although, I'm sure your little birdies want him gone.
ReplyDeleteI love that your a birder. I like a sexy birder.
ReplyDeleteyou sure love your bird.
ReplyDeleteI can't lie, I do.
DeleteWere not opposed to weekly bird post you know. The winter-y touch is nice with the snow. Do you keep a camera at the ready?
ReplyDeleteYes...i always keep my one camera near the windows.
DeleteJust came upon your post...it made for a very calming viewing.... Very nice Mistress.
ReplyDeleteAlways enjoy your bird pictures. Seeing the hawk that cloe is something.
ReplyDeleteIt's the same in my yard... juncos and (insert music from Jaws) a hawk.
ReplyDeleteI always love these bird posts. We don't have juncos here, so I'm enjoying there cutness.
ReplyDeleteThat is one handsome hawk! Hopefully, s/he'll move on and not terrorise your usual suspects, though.
