STYLIST AT WORK

Our beautiful rotunda at the store in the middle......

my view from the third floor into designer bedding...

Can you believe I have now worked almost four full weeks!?!?!?! Yeah, that's what I said. Since being back, I have done two changes in our main mannequin moments, started prepping holiday trim, have installed random theme displays, and we did our seasonal trip into New York which I posted about last week. So what does four weeks look like for me.........

Well... once open, I always hit our Nespresso Bar and Shop. It's great, the customers can buy the machines and the coffee pods, or just buy cups of coffee, but for us, it's a free service.

The main part of my job, and the longest is changing mannequin moments, which are in high traffic areas, which feature either trends or hot designers. Depending how many mannequins are in them, they could take  three hours, to two days to do one. I must pull the clothing, way more than I'll ever use, and then start building the looks. Then shoes and accessories. Believe it or not, I even think of the pose of the mannequin and what look will be best suited for her. Once all that is done, then dressed, I then figure out how to pose them in the grouping and then finally any props.

This moment at the store entrance took two days, and probably has close to $40,000 worth of clothing , shoes and accessories in it.

This moment is a whimsical one with a pre-holiday feel....shine. The back girl is dumping glitter over the front one, and JUST HAPPENED to land, spelling fabulous......

Here's a moment for Hard Candied Colors. I though cotton candy, hence the teased out wigs, and then sprayed them colors.

Two pre-holiday moments, sort of a preview of what will be coming. We don't install any holiday trim till November, very usual for a department store. And even then it will be very simple, clean and minimal.

Here is a shop I created using the designers "feel" for what they want. Everything here including paint color, layout, and props came out of my pea brain. They were pleased. If not, they have been know to pull out of a store completely.

The table and chandeliers were props bought on one of our buying trips. I thought they would add a nice touch to our Elie Tahari Shop. YES,the table was MASSIVE!

A men's moment for winter coats....A Fresh Coat....get it?!?!?

And then in between all that we had three new shop go in which have to be over seen, but all of them turned out beautiful.....

La Mer Cosmetics.... yes they have a real aquarium.....

Salvatore Ferragamo....in handbags......

And the new Fendi Shop in handbags......

We also had a recycling program we did at the end of last month, so what better way to get people to notice than with a newspaper dress made from what else? The Finical Times!!!! When this is done I am taking it off in pieces so some Halloween I can go as a paper girl, get it?!?!?!?

So as you can see I have been busy.  After 8 and a half months pretty straight of this, one can see why I take so many vacations in the summer!!!!!!!

  16. Boy, to be that creative. I always wondered, do you have to stuff the male mannequins jeans and pants? They always look so stacked in stores.
