Nothing Like Shopping...in a Barn

It was one of those weekends where I was prepared to just relax for the most part, as the cold really set in. Sunshine seems to help, but it was still cold.I got a text from Mistress Maddie's #1 Fan who was to be nearby on Saturday, so I told him to stay over on Saturday. No real plans except to go into New Hope. With the cold tempts in was time to layer with some cashmere and finally wear my new paper boy hat!!!!

And break out my ankle boots......

As usual, there is always something impromptu to see on the way into New Hope like a sign that caught my eye for a barn sale!!!!! So I swerved across the road in the buggy and cut everybody off. Of course we had to investigate. I could have spent a small fortune, some interesting things to be seen, like that chandelier below, but since I don't own a money tree........

I talked MM#1 Fan into buying this old stable door. I told him to hang two towel bars on it, one on the top and one on the bottom for a cool towel rack. The whole thing will hang on the wall in his bathroom!!!

Anyone need a fur wrap??? It is getting cold!

Ohhhhhh some sparkles....... after going through the Christmas jumble I did find a treasure.

Afterward, we agreed we were chilled and went for espressos in town. ‘Expresso’ turned into strolling up and down the streets of New Hope, which slid into glasses of wine, and then some small plates at Lola's Café with a seat in the window to people watch into the early evening. It was nice to just sit and chat. I felt awake and it was nice letting life in for a few hours. And the purchase I got?

Remember those old bubble lights? I found this whole candelabra of bubble lights for the asking of $15! To be decorated with later this season!!

  1. holy shit, bubble lights! looks like a menorah to me! I may have gone for those old glass ornaments and perhaps a decanter for the gin.

speaking of which, did you hoist a few G&Ts to keep your innards warm before going outside?

    looking sexay, mistress!

    1. Tootes, I'm a lady, no pearl necklaces or gins till after 6pm, only hot toddies and spritzers in the day. Course with the gin from the night before, I could start fires the next day.

    1. This was a first for me. There was some fowl on the side of the barn in a pen, and a few cows-not for sale.

  5. Now that sounds like a day I need, and I need to go with you with my list of needs. I wish I looked as good in cords as you, damn! I also bought a paper boy hat but haven't worn it yet, I think it looks odd on me.

    1. I haven't met a man who hasn't looked sexy in one yet! As for the cords, I go with the thinner pipping. The wider pipping makes one appear larger.

  7. Love the dishes and the glass bottles and decanters. My gay friend and his partner, who have their black belts in shopping would have a ball at that barn sale. Agreed-the cords looks great with that hat!

This reminds me of one of the antique shops in Julian I visited a few years back. One of them was in this barn off the main road and it was filled with all sorts of stuff.

Maybe I should make a trip up there in a couple of weeks once I get paid again?

  9. I love the fur wrap!!! and the way it's displayed. It's way too awesome. I'd wear it in a heartbeat. The stationary is marvelous...simply marvelous, as I still send hand written notes. Love Bucks County for all the little hidden gems like this and such a dapper tour guide. The bubble lights bring back fond memories.

  14. Thank you everyone! I try my very best not to be hooked on these places! Must say that they are sometimes can be quite a good escapism though, even thought my wallet frets.

  16. I suppose I am a typical man in that I hate shopping. When I go into a store my goal is to shop as quickly and efficiently as possible with no lingering, no looking, except at women... no trying things on. 99% of the time I leave with only the item or items that were on my list. This place could be different .I need a good paper boy hat since there coming back, beat the curve.

  17. One of my favorite things about shopping is what you accidentally find in places like this. I saw several things to catch my eye. How handsome you look in a hat!

  18. Are you sure that's not a bubble light menorah? Could go either way!
