It was a overcast day and a bit of a rain, so what better day to have a good watch of Evil Under the Sun. Peter Ustinov stars as Hercule Poirot, the master detective in this Agatha Christie who done it, where an opulent beach resort provides the scenic setting for the film. And any movie with the likes of Diana Rigg, Maggie Smith and Sylvia Miles is bound to be dramatic, campy and memorable..........
Diana Rigg singing in her role as Arlena Marshall, along with the wonderful Maggie Smith. This scene could be a Saturday night at the Casa, what with all the drama and drunks sitting about.......
The movie is worth watching, it has a fine cast, the day wear is over the top, but the hats however...... were the crowning glory for me.
Hi, mistress ! Thanks for the welcoming back ! Wasn't Diana Rigg Wonder Woman ? Or am I mistaken ?
ReplyDeleteJs cutie, have you had to much gin? Lynda Carter was the wonder! And so glad my favorite frenchmen is back!!!!
DeleteHa! Every gay man I know was watching this today. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis or getting it on. I prefer to see a good hat on a sharp woman myself.
DeleteI would kill for Diana's dress!
ReplyDeleteThis is just another reason why I love visting the Casa. Drunken drama!
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean drama.......
DeleteAnd hats. Hats, Hats, Hats, for career girls. I was watching this today too!
ReplyDeleteit was apparently a decadent afternoon for all
Deletegreat fun,, great music, great cast. great cocktails. what's not to like??
ReplyDeleteOne the all-time best film introductions. I absolutely love how the watercolor art during the opening credits gives little hints and clues about the actor playing that specific role. Classic! And yes I too was watching.
ReplyDeletewhy did maggie have to get old?
ReplyDeleteyou know how the Brit can get. She thought it added more characther.
Deletei haven't seen this one will have to check it out
ReplyDeleteOh, Maggie Smith looks so young!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reminding me what a swell movie this is. What a cast!
ReplyDeleteIt sort of reminds me of a night at the boys fort! Fabulous!
DeleteI met Sylvia on Valentine's Day 2001, we spent most of the evening camping up the lines from this film & dishing on the cast (she said it was her favorite project ever).
ReplyDeleteGreat Movie! & remember Maddie: "You're not going to barbeque me to keep yourself is sailor suits."
Oh Damn it. You lucky bitch! And when you were in in the chorus of a show, and not that I could ever compete. Even in those days, you could always throw your legs up in the air higher than any of us... and wider.
DeleteWomen fight like tigers when they are loosing their husbands.....
DeleteNot that I have much experience with that sort of thing at all.
...and some wax, some bee's wax, for my shoes...
I particularly love the Chinese hat Diana wears that actually figures rather prominently in the plot.
ReplyDeleteRed on the outside and black on the inside.
