INDIGENOUS

I would swear, it seems like Sixpense and I must be reading each others mind, or one or the other is, I would swear,  hiding out in each other's flat. He had a excellent post on Monday about the treatment of  Native Americans. Many forget that there were whole communities, and tribes way before Columbus discovered America. And like most communities, they feature a wide variety of peoples....and our Native Americans had there fair share of LGBT. With some tribes, it was welcome while others it was not to be accepted. And it was not uncommon to find some trans and even drag queens in the tribes...but not until recent years did we start to see some of the talents and hear about their brazen ways to be accepted. The were here and were queer rings for them as well.

The Navajo Nation which is the biggest reservation in the US, which covers over 27,000 square miles,  can get lonely, especially if you identify as LGBTQ. But many drag advocates hope that change is coming. Navajo culture traditionally recognizes a wide variety of sexual orientation and gender identities, though the belief has faded over time after Christianity and colonization imposed a more binary understanding of gender. Although the Navajo is the most accepting, it even still has a long way to go in advancing LGBTQ rights, like one of the most well known of queens Lady Shug says, who is a transgendered drag queen and a very outspoken advocate who won the Miss New Mexico Pride in 2018. Lady Shug has spent the last decade bringing her brand of often radical and political drag to her indigenous community.

Some other indigenous queens who have been able to currently be in the spotlight, find success in their craft, find their niche , while still holding true and deep into their Native American ways, and still be gender fluid for Native Americans.
Buffalo Barbie or Goldtooth identifies with both genders and use female pronouns, says her grandmother was firmly on her side when she came out." You be who you want to be and be at peace," she said. "Don't let anyone else tell you how to be."

Of all the Native queens I think Landa Lakes has been the biggest success. Landa is from the Chickaswa Nation. Originally from Oklahoma and now based in San Francisco, Landa's career spans decades and platforms, although her name is mostly linked to the two-spirit drag community. Landa participates in both American Indian and gay and lesbian student organizations and acts of a mentor to younger drag performers, two spirit Chickasaw drag queens and a community organizer for native American events. She is a massive part of the LBGTQ in the Bay area, serving as a board member of the Bay Area American Indian Two-Spirits, as well as on Intersex Native Americans board. She has raised  funds and awareness for Native American communities, and currently she and her drag troupe, Brush Arbor Gurlz perform nationwide to educate others about Native history, politics and issues.

Nazhoni Taylor Foxx was one of Orlando's premiere drag queens at the legendary Parliament House, where he fostered a new generation of queens for years. Before drag , John Silversmith attended the Institute of American Indian Arts and worked during the summers with a traveling native dance company. All while in Orlando as drag queen supreme, she always taught those she adopted about her own Native heritage and the history of Orlando's gay and drag cultures that came before them. But when the Coronavirus hit, it hit the Native American community harder and sadly in January Nazhonai at 46 passed away after contracting the virus.

And probably one of the most well known,  and one I had the pleasure to meet on several occasions is the stunningly beautiful, Shuga Cain. Shuga is dissented from the Apache tribe on her mother's side, was raised in California, and was raised to embrace his mestizo heritage, which I feel he does beautifully. It's not uncommon for Shuga to appear in a Navajo inspired look, and to show how proud he is of his heritage with various aspects of his identify to the world and stands as a positive example of how gender bending indigenous peoples can be represented

As we learn...we really are every where and we all deserve to be treated with respect and equality

SHOWTIME

This weekend brought about many treats since coming home. It was a drag feast for the eyes. Seems all the queens were coming all at once to the city of brotherly love. Friday night was the brilliant Sasha Velour. Every gay man and gay friendly person should have to see Sasha perform. Simply put, the queen is a genius ,and is doing things I have never seen being done before. Sasha is not only brilliant, but her wardrobe is jaw dropping, lip synchs are tightly done, and he is welcoming and sweet as hell. The things is his show Nightgowns is great, but Smoke and Mirrors is even more theatrical and magical then the prior mention. Not only does Sasha lip synch to some great standards, but his graphic artist background for effects is pheromonal.
This was part of a number where Sasha's dress that looked like a tree continues to metaphases into a full tree by special effects.

But my favorite routine was where we thought we saw Sasha get into a box and get sawed in half...only to be revealed it was all hologram!!!!! Then the "magician" turns out to be Sasha!!! Sasha is way beyond many queens out there, and to me is really being drag to a whole new level. Poetic, artistic and brilliant. I highly recommend this show if it comes to your neck of the woods.
After the show with Olive d'Nightlife.
Last night was ugly. Another show, and if you saw, brought about Lady Bunny in the train station on Sunday morning. YIKES! Sunday night it was off to the Filmore for a full on debauchery fest!
This outrageous, traveling stage show has become a staple of the season, with it's magical and hilarious evening filled with holiday performances, many adult themed, of course. I wanted to go to catch up with Bunny, Nina and Roxxxy. But all these queens are something, and I great bunch! I just fell in love with Shuga Cain even more!!! It was much needed debauchery after a long business trip away.
A fun number with Roxxxy and Latrice. Latrice looked amazing...I suspect because her hubby Christopher was traveling with them. Bunny will have him corrupt by the end of this trip.
Roxxxy, who I will forgive, did THAT FUCKING Mariah Carey song. 'llI give it to her...she knew the lyrics better then Mariah!!!!
When does Manilla NOT bring down a house?
Thorgy was up to her usual colorful antics, Her volin number later was amazing.
Of course the piece de la resistance at most of these things is my favorite queen, the foul mouthed, debach filled, booze hound, sex crazed queen Lady Bunny!!!! Is it any wonder I love her? Bunny nor only did her usual Laugh In style routine, but also a version of Vogue that insulted almost every queen..ever...on Drag Race including Ru herself, but later did a story time, with the audience. Twas the Night Before Christmas, of course this was the Bunny version!!!!
Some candid's backstage. Thorgy is really a sweet heart

Roxxxy is waiting and ready to be the next Philadelphia Sports mascot. I hear the Borghese Houseboys Mud Wrestling is looking for a mascot gurl!
And Bunny arranged all this bitches for a group shot.
And my old and new love, Nina and Shuga Cain! Nina is the lovely hostess for every stop of this tour. Quite amazing she is!!!! Considering she will be doing this every night till January and still keep it fresh, funny and smiling. Nina is a lovely soul. And Shuga's energy is contagious.
After the show most of the queens and the crowd hit the gayborhood for drinks...which is where it all went down hill. Today was ugly. Someone threw me under a Mac truck I believe, or under Latrice!!!! Bunny and her damn shots. Thank goodness my friend John drove me home and got me in bed. And the way I see it, Bunny now owes me a half days pay for leaving early!!!!! Bitch.  A Drag Queens Christmas is coming to a city near you hopefully. I know I have readers in Atlanta, San Fran, Chicago, St.Louis and LA. The girls were telling me, they are all on every stop, with exception to Roxxxy. When she is not present, the fill in queen is either Willam, Scarlett Envy or Shea Coulee. The tour dates are here.

If you need holiday cheer, then this is your ticket.

EUPHORIA

Boy, what a weekend!!!!!
If you guessed the Mistress's ass was dragging a foot in the ground today, you'd be right. This post will include many photos that speak for themselves. I was originally not keen on going, because I knew the crowds would be insane....I think I heard over 5 million showed up. Talk about a HUGE represent!!!!!!! The bars were not actually as bad as could have been, but the dance clubs were insanely packed, but who am I to complain about being bumped and grinded!!!!! One guy I danced with I was told even hauled my junk out!!! Don't remember. But glad I went now. 1- I will probably never get to have that experience again for such a milestone. There was a few times I got emotional, being at Stonewall, the happy feeling, the sad feelings of the past, and again at the parade, just seeing all parts of the community for once embracing and accepting each other. Why doesn't this only happen at Gay Pride Month?!?!?!  2- I got to meet and talk to people from all over the globe, and even danced with a few at the clubs.  3- It felt to me like gay heaven, complete euphoria. The whole city felt gay to me..all parts of the city had flags and illuminated lights. And 4- I finally got to see Mother Madge, even though I was pretty spent by time she came on, but luckily got a 16th wind. At her age, she didn't disappoint. In some respects it was like all my gayness, like when I came out, my gay friends, Madonna, who was my gay hero and icon at the time, all coincided with the history of the gay past to make for the perfect weekend all in the same place,  at the same time. It will be a good memory.

 Stonewll Inn
We tasted the rainbow!!!!
The great bartender made us a shot for each color of the flag. I did the yellow one.
Yes...two gin and tonics. Some dear bought me a drink, I could hardly say no.
Two big surprises….
YES!!!!
And I told him I'm totally helping Mayor Pete in any way I can to knock out that current SOB!!!!!!! And then 20 minutes later.....Billy Eichner!

Stonewall National Monument
The new street sign revealed last week. How cool is that?
Yes, a real piano one can sit at and sing show tunes. There is even sheet music in the bench. Many were playing too.
The arch in Washington Square looked amazing!!!
The parade and my favorite...characters!!!
I want to be buried in this.
Miss Shuga Cane
Mistress Maddie's #1 Fan....with his drama!
Ran into this queen Saturday night. Very cool ensemble with an ode of pictures to famous Stonewallians.
Philly friends and drag sisters Carol Ann Carol Ann, and Sharon Husbands, with the fabulous Ginger Minj
THESE TWO!!!! Miguel and Vincente from South America. Now you know I was in trouble!!!! I had met them the night before and just happened upon them again. So they posed for me. They were adorable!!!!! But It gets better. I asked them to make out for me!!!!!!! I have no shame girls.
YASSSSSSS! I am very good right? Chi Chi LaRue best watch out!!!! Maddie just may start directing! The things I could do to them....I think I even told them. But they were good sports and very friendly. Thank you Miguel and Vincente for the pictures and so nice talking to you two. Keep it clean people... they might be reading this since I told them they would be featured for our spank banks. But those shorts.......ahhhhhhhh omg !!!!! Oh Baby! Let's take a minute........
Where was I? Even the train wasn't safe from Preston's palce!!!! Oh Daddy!!! Yippeeeeee
Look at this diva. And he was packing! Hell, I was ready to let him do me to get those platform boots.
At the Cock in the East Village, we were treated to some lovely racy and raunchy go -go boys and broaderline S&M.  Here's Peppermint with a amateur stripper winner. He had a lovely basket too. I was definitely basket shopping this weekend I noticed.
For the life of me can't remember this go-go's  name But I was told I was making it rain 5 and 10's on him! He was cool to let me get his picture. Look at the heft of the coin purse girls!
And I never saw a guy look for loose change this way, but hey, I'd try it.
Meanwhile in Brooklyn,  at Preston's place his downstairs neighbor had this sign. People come for her comical dog in the window, but then stay for the powerful message.

Preston's brood is also to cute. Don't they all look thrilled that Aunt Maddie made them dress and act festive???? Don't ask what was on the little flag to make Oscar hold that in his mouth.
Was I tied today? Hellllll yes!
Even on the train coming home, I had a ,huh, sort of indiscrecion...but Im lady like, and won't make ya'll blush... but my seat partner had magicial hands.....and I didn't get home till 2:15am!!!! But I wouldn't have changed a thing, except maybe having a threesome with Miguel and Vincente. And if you saw last night's post, your well aware I was with Bunny at the Monster. With copious amount of libations. She did get me into trouble with two guys, and my lovely underwear from Saturdays post went missing after said thrice. I kid you not, she owes me new underwear by my calculations. But Im wrapping this post up...your Mistress is getting over heated dears....I need a lie down.
