THE SUNDAY LIST

This week's list of things that caught my attention...

Drag Queen Rose' performed at Voss events "Night of the Living Drag" in a drop dead, no pun intended performance to the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Heads Will Roll and Madonna's Die Another Day. Talk about a drag performance.

In Local News....
This is Fox Manor, a 1860's Victorian home in Lower Paxton in Harrisburg that will be featured in "The Eeriest of the East" on HGTV. The manor was a home first, then had been used as a nursing home, then sat vacant for seven years before the current owners bought it 14 years ago. The current couple and friends of theirs have said they hear running footsteps, doors slamming, extreme temp changes, water running out of cabinets, wet bathroom footsteps, and other oddities.  When I first moved out on my own with my first roommate, I lived in the apartments adjacent. Who knew? This area still doesn't have the feeling of eerie like New Hope had though.

And this administration continues upheaval...
The last of a series of Grandmother Trees, all well over 200 years old, was torn down in Lochiel Arizonia to expand the bronzer- caked, bile belching, Bargain basement Mussolini's border wall. Mind you, like his other projects in the past, the older parts of the wall are already in bad condition and falling apart, but I digress. The first two older trees had been removed already, but the last one was torn down in minutes to expand the wall. Despite activists trying to protect the last one aged at 250-year-old tree for more than two months. DHS felled the tree in minutes as protestors screamed. Seems symbolically ironic, America just turned 250 and they tear down a tree aged 250. I call it foreshadowing.

And that's not it. The Roadless Rule is being fought for by activist that are heavily protesting a federal proposal to rescind the 2001 Roadless Rule across acres of the Tongasss National Forest, which would open pristine areas of Alaska to industrial logging once again. Our public lands are in grave danger. And these forests grown mighty and have some of the tallest and most massive pines in the world. Someone needs to stop him and this administration and soon. This country will not survive another two years. And if he does go out, trust me, he will do as much damage as he can to anything in his path. Look at just the last two years.

I love a good horror movie... and a fan of Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Looks like one of the best horror movies in ages. Just the trailer gave me chills.

And who remembers this?
When you heard it, you knew something good was coming on.

And who says you need a load of flowers to make an arrangement? I have been using blooms from the garden getting ready for its sleep soon.

A bloom each from hydrangea, yellow rose, zinnia, dahlia a Mexican sunflower and some mint from the herb garden. Volia!

I love this potpourri post of interesting things. I too read about both tree stories. My son is a former state forest ranger and wildland firefighter that worked alongside the timber industry, one of the biggest things he heard procurement foresters and logging supes tell him was that the supply isn’t the issue, it's the demand. The supply is plentiful with stands that were grown specifically for procurement, the issue is no one is buying timber and there are less and less mills staying open because of that.

Which begs the question, is this really about “revitalizing” an industry? Or is it about something else… Because while I believe logging has its place (aka in sustainable timber procurement operations on private tree farms dedicated to just that, not on our public lands and old growth forests), I seriously doubt this is just about logging “rights,” and it is most DEFINITELY not about wildfire mitigation, and more to do with destroying all these beautiful forests and lands that God created to expand data centers and urban development to take more and more from us the PEOPLE. And the Grandmothers Trees are heartbreaking to read because of that assholes border wall. And your right, parts of it are already collapsing.

The Rose' video was truly amazing! That reveal got me excited!

  2. Great post of varied things. LOVED Rose's performance, but always adored her. Werewulf looks downright chilling. And your little arrangements looks very cheerful!

The stories of tearing up forest and parks is very upsetting. The wealthy and this administration are destroying our National Parks for their own profit but, once these Parks are gone there will be no one wanting to visit them anymore, then look out. These Parks generate millions every year and that money is miss handled by the government so they can help pave the way for "Trump" everything! I hope he buys the farm soon.

  4. I enjoyed the Night of the Living Dead video but quite frankly I'm surprised the male dancers' pants didn't come off too. That routine just CRIED OUT for it, lol.

    1. They probably wanted the focus to stay on the Grande Dame of course.

  5. I love the drag number, and I too am waiting for Werewolf where it hits here.

I just bet your garden is still producing lovely colors? How anyone doesn't love nature and would want to protect it is beyond me. I'm just so disgusted by the lack of empathy for our home plant and the US is leading the destruction right now, because of the damn president you guys have.

  8. I'm so sorry to read that those fantastic trees are being destroyed for the sake of that stupid wall.
We have some Giant Redwoods on the go here - that's the best you can do - start nurturing replacements. They will be planted somewhere more suitable than my garden when they are ready!

I read about the trees and sent a giant Fuck You to the White House. I thought maybe the trees could be saved and used for a hanging????
