SUMMERTIME SADNESS

With summer's end, we spent some time harvesting more flowers from the garden... even though the dahlias, salvia, roses and wildflowers continue blooming.

This morning's buds from the wildflower garden.

As is tradition here at the Casa du Borghese....Lana Del Ray....

  1. Dahlias come into their own in this season! Unfortunately, ours have done nothing - not a single flower this year, nor last. We are tempted to give them away, to be honest.

Are zinnias really "wild flowers" in Pennsylvania? Gosh. Jx

PS That is the only Lana Del Ray song (and only in that mix) I really like...

    1. No Jon, Zinnias are flowers here, but I added tons of seeds into the wildflower garden. You see many of them in wildflower gardens for some reason. And our dahlias require lots of sun most of the day. The first year they did nothing...but the second year they all did well. I'd get more, but they really take over when they get going, and they start spreading.....

  2. Ah, I always think of you and Lana on the last day of summer! Traditions are swell. And so are your stems.

  7. It might be the last day of summer, but at least it's not the first day of winter! Your yellow and pink dahlias are gorgeous, dahling!
