EPICUREAN DELIGHTS?

If your familiar with the Mistress and this here blog, you'll know and remember my blogger pal and friend Kailyn. We met through our blogs, stayed in touch, and have visited several times on both coasts.  She is after all my Edina to my Patsy. I can't even tell  you how much gin, rum, gin, wine, gin, liqueurs and gin we have sunk. I mean, when we did the Napa Valley, we drank, well, she drank the lovely county vineyards dry!!! Not to mention when she came to New Hope. The poor Raven is still trying to restock the distillery, and the bartends are still nursing their arms and hands from carpal tunnel from shaking cock-a-tails so fast. Anyway.... I was delighted when I heard she was coming east again...we would get caught up and visit my good friend and sister Mame, aka David Dust. But in my angst, I forgot it was Easter weekend and I'd be away out of town at the ancestral home. YOU'D think my Social Director would have caught that right? Well, Kailyn has been sending pictures of her current Life of Riley. She has been enjoying the treasures of the NYC, and being a foodie and a good cook herself, she was enjoying many earthly delights....
This was her room service one day. You know just another afternoon with champagne, caviar and foie gras.

But this was her piece de la resistance....
The one thing she kept telling me was,  she was going to Le Bernardin, New York's most celebrated seafood restaurant. If you've come to find out whether Le Bernardin is worth the trip and money, I assume by her enthusiastic picture taking the answer is absolutely YES! But I contained my excitement as I asked where the hell she was dining! Mars? This food may have been good, as I hear from sources she was seen licking the plates clean, but I wasn't feeling it, or didn't ever know what the sam hell she was dining on? But I reckon if she enjoyed it, it was all worth.

I mean look at that. And what's that gold thing? Did someone lose a gold filling?
Is it me or does that twig like object look like something from that movie The Thing? But worry not. In between eating she was drinking. The only problem was she couldn't get the stuff down her gullet quick enough....

In the lounge of the Kimberly Hotel where she had a suite, she was very surprised to see they had a drink called the Mistress.

There are drinks named for me all over, not to mention other parts of the hotels, where unmentionable things have gone on........ask anyone for a Bad Influence in New Hope, they will know who it's named after.

  1. Now I am all about trying new things, and love food. Have you seen my hips? But I don't know I could eat these things, except the soup type dish? I hear very good things about the place though. The Mistress does look rather refreshing.....

  4. "Did someone lose a gold filling?" Oh Mistress, you are so bad!

  5. That's certainly fine dining, although I would have liked a couple of pictures of the seafood on her fork on the way to her mouth. Changing the subject, is the expression 'fag hag' acceptable in polite discourse?

    1. Maddie says that I am a fruit fly.

    2. Gorilla, she probably would have, but there are so few times there isn't a cocktail there first. And looks like the fruit fly and fag hag have answered your question.

  6. That ball of goop with the "gold filling" on top scares me a little. What the seven hells is it?
In fact, it all looks mildly terrifying, so I'll stick to the drink. Bottoms up!

  7. I've been to many of the most upscale restaurants around, but - despite the fact - I've never been smitten by "fine cuisine". I prefer chowing down a mouth-watering side of beef (no sexual implications intended....).

  8. The drinks look lovely, but I was going to ask if she ate on the SS Enterprise! I'd actually try some of these. Did she have a favorite?

  10. Looks great! I heard of Le Bernardin....your friend sure knows how to live. Looks like she had a wonderful time. I'll eat and try anything, but I prefer meat....chicken, pork, lamb beef. I'm definitely a meat eater.

    1. One of the dishes on the chef's tasting menu (which of course I did with the wine pairing) had Waygu beef. That stuff was like butter.

  17. I'm just a plain old east coast boy...if I want seafood, I'll go somewhere and order the Lobster!

Some of my best friends have been considered "a bad influence," so it cheers me to no end to learn of my mistresses reputation! Hugs!

  24. The real fun was after I snapped photos at Le Bernardin, the husband of the couple seated next to me asked if I was a food critic. They were from Australia so the waiter listed wonderfuli imports from there including Russell Crowe.

  25. Oh and I had the drink with the strawberry at The National. Wonderful little bistro. The foie gras and caviar were from Olma's in the Plaza food market. I also had a gin and tonic in a jelly jar on the Lower East Side. (I was off to see my fabulous cousin who is a makeup artist.)
And Maddie won't say it but I planned this trip two months ago. It took on new meaning when my mom died last month.
I work. Much more than Maddie does. And if I told you what I do, you'd probably be surprised as hell. Let's just say that family money pays for the fancy stuff in my life, not my job.
