CHRISTMAS EVE

A relaxing day at home today. Everything is calm. Candles lit, stollen made. I will watch some Christmas flicks today with exception to going to visit the cemetery this afternoon to lay a wreath for the Grands. I have three guests for supper tonight and then I'll view A Christmas Carol late. I'm not religious, nor believe in the Bible, but I felt the need to get out my father's nativity creche. It is Italian made and every year it used to grace the dining room. I admit it is very pretty. The camels use to fascinate me as a wee one. He used to get it out, but the baby wouldn't be placed in till Christmas Eve after midnight service. I don't get it out every year, it's been several, but for some reason found it comforting this year.

May we all have a peaceful, bright and calm Christmas, filled with friends, loved ones and good memories.

And a glass of spiked egg nog helps too!

As is tradition here every year. One of my favorite songs of the season by Bucks County native and neighbor, Christina Perri along with her brother accompanying. I have never gotten through the song yet with a dry eye. A beautiful song.

A Happy Christmas to you all.

  1. And yet another facet of the diamond you've become over the years. A softer side of our Maddie revealed. It's both lovely and comforting seeing you in this light. Keep that light shing, Mistress, we'll need it in the coming months. Merry, Happy Christmas, Holidays, however you decide to celebrate.

  3. Lovely song and lovely nativity scene. I think we all need extra comfort this year because of the terrible turmoil in our country.

  4. "I'll Be Home For Christmas" always makes me misty-eyed too, probably because I spent so many years travelling home for Xmas in Manitoba (flying down from the High Arctic, driving across one or more provinces on snow covered, icy highways). I've driven through blizzards, hit black ice one year on Xmas Eve and a kind farmer hauled my truck out of a snow-filled ditch with his tractor, and on another Xmas Eve I hit a deer and met a really cute Quebecois RCMP Officer.... good memories. Enjoy your liquid Yuletide, Maddie!

  5. Merry Christmas Maddie, the Nativity is indeed Lovely and I'm glad you brought it out this Christmas, and found it comforting. I like "Santa Baby" by Eartha Kitt and "Happy Christmas ~ War Is Over" by John Lennon and Yoko Ono. Plus, all of the Old Crooner Christmas Songs that are Iconic that my Parents always played by Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby, Perry Como.

  7. You described an absolutely perfect Christmas Eve. Savor it!
Nothing perfect where I am, but I'll probably be watching "A Christmas Carol" late tonight, too. Jon
