STOP THE CAR!

Ignorant bitches? The political parties...yet again. While I was away and didn't get to see any coverage of the NYC mayoral debate, but then I didn't have too. It's been enough to know that journalist, corporate media and corporate Democrats are calling Zohran Mamdani "radical ". I adore him.

And why are they saying that? Because he campaigned on cheaper groceries, freezing rent-stabilized apartments and free buses, especially in NYC. Nothing of that is radical. The high cost of living was the #1 issue in the 2024 election, so how could Mamdani's answers for that possibly be radical? Rent stabilization across the country should be a propriety, and it helps many that live in cities, and many friends I know who live in NYC and other cities. As far as groceries? He has the right idea as should the rest of the political parties. Shit, I'm about to go on Ozempic, not because of weight loss but to curb my appetite. I paid $15 for a sandwich last week! Not only has NYC not been affordable in decades but neither has any other city. Cuomo's best argument vs Zohran is that he has no executive experience. Well guess what neither did the Dump. While it's true Zohran has no executive experience, look at Cuomo's experience as governor. That brought us Covid deaths in nursing homes due to Cuomo's lying, cutting healthcare, so billionaires could pay lower taxes and setting up anti-corruption board, only to dismantle the board when it questioned his ethics. Piff.

Of course, Mamdani's a muslim, who supports Palestine loudly. Good for him I say. Something many other democrats and progressives refuse to do yet keep "helping" the war criminal of Israel. To some this will automatically make him a radical. He is one of two I've heard take a stand while all the Dem candidates were asked which country they would first visit, and all said Israel. They'd go to an apartheid state while it commits genocide? THAT is radical to me. Not to mention that fact that as mayor of NYC Mamdani has zero jurisdiction over US foreign policy. And don't expect any of the others to "fix" the Israel/Gaza mess, because all the republicans and every sitting Democrat beside Rashida Tlaib has caved to Israel.

Let's also point out that Democrat leadership will refuse to endorse him, especially shame on Hakeem Jefferies whose territory covers much of Zohran's. You'd think he would endorse him. Zohran's popularity and votes in many of the same areas were even higher than that of Jefferies. I think Zohran Mamdani has fresh ideas, and things that makes sense with what he wants to do. He sees what people are needing and hurting for...and that's far from radical to me. Many other politicians better wake up. So far, still, I have not much hope for the next election. But a nice start would be Mamdani winning his seat as mayor.

  1. The Status Quo in this Two Party System just isn't working for the People anymore so it doesn't surprise me in the least that many Voters want a fresh take on things, someone who is listening to what they actually NEED and would try to find creative ways to provide it to The People, rather than catering to big Donors and putting Party over Country. I think the next Election, if we even have one, is gonna be a Hot Mess frankly, I'm not seeing anything from either side that would entice a Moderate Independent Voter like myself to be Wowed by anything or anyone they're giving us a choice of.

    1. And while I am a borderline Democrat independent, I feel exactly the same way you do. I am dreading the next general election.

  2. I think today was rant day across Blogville, sweetpea! It's becoming increasingly more difficult not to be pissed off at the state of our nation now! Dawn has a real point regarding the inability of our current 2 party system to effectively work for the people! In in California, I'm looking at a new face, Butch Ware, for governor in 2026! We've got to stop choosing "the lesser of two evils" and start supporting candidates who truly are For the People! xoxo

  4. What little I've heard about him impresses me too. It's ridiculous what gets smeared as "radical" by MAGA.

  5. So excited to vote him in here, Unlike Jefferies who has done shit here for anyone.

  6. Einstein said “Insanity is doing the same thing over & over again & expecting different results.” So yeah I’ll be voting for Zohran.
On another note I did t watch the debate either I’ll wait for NY1, they aré better. I know NYC has the biggest Jewish population in the US but the Israel question is a non starter as a local Mayor he doesn’t create or sign legislation regarding them. Same for asking if he is going to keep Tish as NYPD Comish when every Mayor brings in their own team. They are trying to create a narrative of the Muslim who hates Jews. It’s despicable. If we are going to go down this road then why aren’t we asking the candidates about Puerto Rico status as a colony or other LATAM countries? The 2nd largest group of people in NYC are Latinos, white surpass by like 2-3%. Everyone knows you don’t win an election in NY without the Latino vote especially the PR one.

  7. We NEED way many more like him!!!!! I can't wait to vote in the general election. It's important to pick the guy to blame when nothing gets done. As Democrat, I agree we need to support and endorse progressives. But seems one doesn't have a chance unless you kiss the " old dems" ring first. And Jefferies not supporting or endorsing Zohran is just an example of their stubbornness. Democrats can't afford to pass up on anyone hunny.

  8. Being an American is being indoctrinated into a bone deep belief that you need to pay for something in order to deserve it. The idea that being a human being and having a right to basic services is "radical" in this country. They want us to think that we should HAVE to pay for busses, and other things.... but yet the Walton family can run a business where they pay wages so low 40% of their workforce is on food stamps. It's a lifelong conditioning to support corporate wealth and the status quo. I have very little faith left for this country. And so few good people to represent it.

  9. Agreed with you on this.... And that corporate democrats are the same enemy as republicans. Where are the real candidates that that have good promise and WILL KEEP THEM????

  10. People like Cuomo are shaking in their boots because Zohran is so good at exposing them for the sleazy, corrupt, status quo politicians they are. They know their days of relevance are limited, if they haven’t ended already. The idea of actually thinking about what’s beneficial to working people’s lives (as opposed to kowtowing to the billionaire donor class) is so inconceivable to them that they can’t even recognize practical, real world solutions to ordinary folks’ problems when they’re proposed. (And can we please put to rest the absurd, hoary trope that there’s not enough money to make these proposals a reality? Elon Musk is now worth $500 billion, so spare me this idea that the money isn’t there. It would be if parasites like Musk paid their fair share of taxes). Mamdani had my vote from the beginning of his campaign even though I don't live in NYC, but what the pathetic pro-genocide Dems don’t realize is that their idiotic, ham-fisted attempts at discrediting him make us even more determined to see him in office.

  12. I also adore Mamdani (I put a link to his campaign on my blog). I am a big "D" Democrat (or dick, depending on if someone is pissing me off), and I don't get the NY Dems? He >IS< the voice that the people are latching onto. You would think the party would be flocking around him? All of it, every word you posted, drives home just how out of touch both parties are. I hope he clobbers the field in the coming election!

  13. Turn out on Tuesday will be critical, if the angry people, express their anger at the ballot box, things will change. Carter won in 1976, because people were pissed off a the Nixon establishment and wanted change (oh god, I am showing my age.)

    1. I agree! The top, oldest part of the Dem party needs to be shown the door. I am not and haven't been impressed in some time. And Pelsoi is part to blame too...passing up and not endorsing many new and up and coming candidates who could take us forward. But no, they also want to be a tired old party just like the R's. We need to BE THE CHANGE!

Really, if NY knows what's good for them, they'll vote for him. There's no way in hell they'll vote for that sex abuser. Oh, wait...

  16. So many of the things considered "radical" in the US are standard in the UK. We are not perfect as a country, far from it. As for Israel, they are a rogue state committing genocide. No-one should be going there, until they get rid of Net a Yahoo and his far right friends.

  17. Oh, the MOR Democrats are afraid of appearing too progressive they'd lose in '26. I do think he'll win. But the thing is, he's got a city council that will most likely rein him in somewhat.
If they go for Cuomo....it'll be nothing but controversy over his grabby hands.

Mamdani for the win in NYC ! :)
We could sure use a man like him in DC.
My fear is he will win and the powers that be in NYC will be the worm in the apple to undermine Mamdani from the get go. They can’t stand him and will try every underhanded trick in the book, they could even go as far as radicalizing someone with their sick rhetoric enough to kill him.
    Rex in DC

    1. Rex, I worry about the same thing. If I recollect, even the governor of NY wouldn't endorse him either. But if they do undermine him and set him up for failure, it is going to further enrage The People. They need not take for granted what we the People can do. They should be gravitating toward him, not ruining him.

  19. Shame on Jeffries and Schumer. Both are useless in every single way as Democratic "leaders." And the fact that Cuomo, after all his sex abuse/harassment, is even on the ballot is also shameful.
