Having moved to So Cal from San Francisco in 1956, before I was born, my family use to watch Vampira on late Saturday night tv. As her horror program of old horror films had run from 1954-1955 on ABC ch 7, and a very short time in 1956 on KHJ ch 9. They did watch other horror tv show hosts like the Old Woman om KTLA ch 5 1957-1958, Ghoulita 1963 and Jeepers Creepers on KCOP ch 13 1963-1966 and Seymour on KHJ ch 9 and then KTLA ch 5 1969-1974. I myself remember Jeepers Creepers and Seymour. We would watch their shows and order food from Chicken Delight and Pizza Man.:) -Rj
She was stunning and just look at what she spawned....Vampira, Elviria, Morticia Addams, Lily Munster, even some of that inspiration in Hester Frump, And a slew of B movie female witches and vampire parts.
Aw heck, I need more than three words. She was hot in L.A. when I was a tiny, innocent (?) child. She tried to sue Cassandra Peterson, claiming that Elvira was a copy of herself. She lost the lawsuit.
And I figured you would know her. She was the original! I could see her not being happy about Elvira, but on the other hand imitation is a great form of flattery.
