No, I didn't hang a trick out the window from the third floor who didn't please me...rumors I tell you! Well, I'm happy to report my birthday came and went with no real dramatics of turning another year older. I'm really starting to like off season beach trips. It was another swell trip to Rehoboth Beach for the Sea Witch Festival. It's impressive the amount of people in costume for the event. Us? We wore all black with black witches' hats. The parade itself a good half day of events. Of course there was daily walks on the beach. a gay bingo one night, a drag show visit. some delicious dinners out. At the Blue Hen, I had an amazing Lobster Toast! YUM! Of course, there was also some copious amounts of libations, and I have to have my customary piece of Grotto's pizza while there. The highlight of the trip was of course the parade, and my day at the spa getting the whole body glowed up for another season. The massage felt great as did the body wrap and all the other services. And there might have been some debauchery, but I won't kiss and tell. Here's some snaps from the weekend. I can't tell you how it was nice to get away from it all.
Some tins of sand tarts I made for the staff there.
I could make my own gin with all those juniper berries of the tree! It smelled heavenly.
The owner Garrett goes all out decorating, adding to the fun of the stay.
I don't know, I felt I was being watched the whole time.
My quarters are always upstairs on the right. I adore that room and it has its own private deck.
Garrett's dog Zorro!

That place looks so peaceful. I'd be a fan of off season beach vacations, too.
ReplyDeleteThis B&B is RIGHT up your alley. I love these types of places. I very seldom anymore use a chain unless it can't be helped. The service and friendly atmosphere, and attention to detail is excellent. And during the day, the house can practically be yours to yourself, as most are out and about.
DeleteSo glad you had a wonderful birthday trip. (Was there any doubt about Spa debauchery???) Happy, happy! And "Here's to another trip around the sun!"
ReplyDeleteOh the spa was a delight! I was like a relaxed puddle of relaxation when I came out to get my mani/pedi. The debauchery came later that night. No pun intended.
DeleteThank you Pat!
Oh, THIS is the way to celebrate one's bday!!
ReplyDeleteLove the place! And wearing all black with black witch hats? Stylish AND on point.
Glad you had an awesome time. And this off season looks perfect for a weekend escapade!
XOXO
One year they want to dress in all black like AHS Coven, basic black dresses, and then with me in red, as Myrtle Snow. LOL
DeleteGreat photos; looks like a fun trip. But those eyes!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat parade photos! What a fun B&B to stay at! THOSE EYES! Hope you don't mind, I swiped your photo of the bathroom sign.
ReplyDeleteDid you grab some toilet paper too?
DeleteI'd be interested to see what you would plant in your beach garden. And don't forget, with climate change your home might not stay around for long (whatever the orange weather forecaster in chief might say). Glad you enjoyed your birthday.
ReplyDeleteA reader here, Agnes has had a time with planting things in her garden to take. She recently moved to a beach town not far from Rehoboth Beach. I didn't see too many things there growing like I have in my garden, but I'm sure some things I have, like the Datura's and cassia would fare well.
DeleteWhat a great place to celebrate one’s birthday wearing all black with black witches’ hats, LOL. So fun. Those eyeballs tho.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how much I thought of you when seeing all the decor in the house!
DeleteGay Culture, I so long for that; it seems that your beach visit reminds me of the old days in the Quarter.
ReplyDeleteI have yet been to the French Quarter.
DeleteI forgot to press the correct account button . Thats my comment above on Gay Culture
ReplyDeleteUn tel charme, comme les plages de Deauville :)
ReplyDelete-Beau Mec à Deauville
Je soupçonne que vous apprécieriez Rehoboth Beach. Une ville côtière tellement accueillante.
DeleteI'm glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious way to spend your birthday week, sweetpea! I adore the decorations, absolutely brilliant! xoxo (ps. thanks for the info yesterday! Done an done)
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect place to be. I wonder what Rehoboth is like for year-round living. It sure is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt gets very quiet after Sea Witch. It's rather nice. I could easily live there.
DeleteI’m really loving those eyeballs
ReplyDeleteThat's what he said!
DeleteA fab time was had by all, by the sounds of it! You were undoubtedly that "fab time" 🤣 Jx
ReplyDeleteAnd that was the last hurrah...at least till summer.
DeleteI'm pea green with envy with your trips to Rehoboth beach -- it's so stunning, yet serene, I can understand why it's one of your favourite haunts! Love the witch's chapeau -- very chic -- but where's the photo of you & your buddies in your Wiccan costumes???
ReplyDeleteThe drinks might have had something to do with that! LOL!
DeleteHappy Birthday! In spite of all the years we lived in Maryland, I've never been to Rehoboth Beach. It's difficult to go places when children are tagging along and we never had anyone trustworthy to leave them with for more than a couple of hours. We should have chained them up and stowed them under their beds.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
You watched Casino much??? LOL!!!!
DeleteWhat exactly were those eyeballs? Are they made out of wax just like the candles?
ReplyDeleteI believe they were paper mache. And you don't know want to know where I placed those eyeballs. I told my friend my eyeballs could see him!!! So immature sometimes.
DeleteRehoboth is such a great beach town in many ways. You can’t go wrong with a good B&B or guesthouse. Glad to read you treated yourself to a great Birthday vacation. :)
ReplyDeletePan in Wynnewood
Not to mention Pan it is not to bad a drive from the Philly area compared to Harrisburg.
DeleteRehoboth Beach has been on our bucket list for quite some time! That looks marvelous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely birthday celebration! Lucky you. I check realtor.com listings for Stone Harbor all the time. For now, we rent, but as soon as I win that lottery, I'm buying my beach house.
