SUMMER POSTCARD....

....on our last day on Fire Island, mermen were sighted on the beaches of the Pines!

Fire Island just might be the gayest place on Earth! And to think we didn't even see any mermen in Barbados.

As this goes to press, Warbucks, Pearly and I left the clan on Fire Island yesterday, and now in New Hope for a few days. It's been a swell 14 days so far....

  5. just because we have a fountain and pool at the Casa du Borghese doesn't mean you have to bring home fish.

You and Hedda on Fire Island? That's a lot of high maintenance.

But the mermen reminds me of the billionaire who asked a lighthouse keeper how to get a mermaid. He gave him an easy but gross one. The lighthouse keeper told him to go to to the chicken farm three miles north of there and ask for their sickliest chicken. Pluck it and then soak it in their sewage runoff for a day. Then grind it up into a smoothie, let it ferment for two days, and then go onto the bow of his yacht and chug it at high noon.

"At last!" shouts the billionaire and rushes off to get the chicken. Three days later, he's standing on the pointy end of his yacht, holding his nose and drinking a greyish pink smoothie. And that's how he got Salmon Ella.

  7. I am waiting with bated breath on the photos of your trip. I have never been to either place. And Fire Island does exist? I thought it was just a place of folk lore.

  11. New Hope! You're so lucky. I've been looking into moving back home (I'm from Yardley). Real estate has just gotten insane, though. I could afford some towns but I would never live in them.... Have a realtor; hope she can make a miracle happen.

    1. I'm originally from Camp Hill, but moved to Bucks County, Doylestown in 1999 and lived their till 2023. My uncle was also from Yardley. I already know I will move back, as the feeling is getting to that point again. I get back for weekends when I can. I ADORE that whole area. Especially New Hope/Dolyestown/Lambertville. Maybe we'll be neighbors?

Amusant, les sirènes divines mâles apportent la bonne fortune à Fire island.

  19. My (almost) namesake Dolores DeLago [Bette Midler] comes to mind: “The question before us is where’s her clitoris?”

Could those queens do a full dance routine in electric wheelchairs, I wonder? Jx

  23. Never been to Barbados, but I did have my first trip to Fire Island this summer back in July. It was amazing. I feel for any gay man who never gets to experience the magic of this place. And hey, I enjoy Provincetown, but this is a whole other level. The same but much different, and way more campy. Even butch men let their queenie sides come out.
