As always, the brilliant man behind Schiaparelli does it again in another stunning collection this past Paris Fashion week. I would so be wearing any of these as the Mistress approves. Daniel Roseberry unveiled the collection in a show that was as visually assertive as it was conceptually charged. Again, against the picturesque and opulent backdrop of the Petit Palais, Roseberry delivered a cinematic study in contrasts, futurism intertwined with historical codes. Eroticism layed beneath craftsmanship, a collection that felt like both a homage and a defiant leap forward, showing promise for a famine of fashion. Always a standout here. Stripping the palette down to stark black, silver and gray, seems fitting for the time were in, Roseberry emphasized surface over color. Reflective embellishments took center stage. And the venue is so great from the fashion goer to view and see multiple models walking the curved walkway. As fashion braces for a generational shuffle, Schiaparelli stand as both culmination and catalyst...and he does this legendary fashion house proud, still letting Elsa Schiaparelli's surreal fashion still shine through. The gowns and suits are to die for, and I would so wear the winter coat with the fur trim embellishments!!!!
I swear, the minute his shows start, I get chills.

Will everybody buy it? Nope. It's not made for that.
It's made to create art. And art was created.

And the funny part is some of the pieces could come right off of the runway and be worn daily. Especially those Blazers and skirts and the winter coats... and there's a gowns, oh my God. It's one of the few Couture shows I've seen where the pieces are actually wearable as is.

ReplyDeleteThere is couture for the monied few and there is haute couture for the sake of displaying inspiration, art, the past and future of the design house and add in a bit of provocation. Few if any of these garments will be worn in public; the saddle dress at the bottom left and the red dress at the top with the chest plate on the model's back are prime examples. That jewel-encrusted blob at her neck is a beating heart. Another challenging and stellar collection from Daniel Roseberry.

ReplyDeleteTimeless design and elegant colour palette as always. The matador-inspired looks were fantastic, but the English saddle dress was a dud. Nor did I care for many of the chapeaus -- they looked like chess pieces, overturned vases, mop heads or emoji poop, LOL! There's a show on BBCFirst called "Millionaire Hoarders" that I think you'd enjoy, Maddie. One clothing collector sold 9 vintage flapper dresses for 9000 pounds (they were absolutely stunning), while another collector thought she had a 1930's Schiaparelli gown that was proven to be fake by the experts!

ReplyDeleteEach one just a work of art. I love the low cut back on that one gown that had a butt crack necklace. I mean, if you're doing butt crack give it jewels.
Quibble? Some of the hats, just a few, reminded me of the I Love Lucy episode where she wore a purse on her head as a hat.
Favorite? Daniel Roseberry. He is quite handsome and talented.

DeleteBack to the future with Schiaparelli with stunning fashions, she would be proud of Roseberry. Not to mention the textured fabrics from the skilled looms of textile manufacturers. Without them there is no haute couture !

I hope the bad dressed ones, like the maga blonds with tits out, are not arbiters of fashion. As for the fantastic models, those were some evil lookin heels they were wearing, like 12 inch stilettos ! Perfect for the S&M set.

Aren't those heel high! When I did drag, the highest I could do was a 6" heel. Thank heavens my talent with men went beyond, lmao! This show was so Luxe! The whole vibe.... just stunning.

ReplyDeleteDaniel is ... off the charts! Every piece was so beautiful and always chic with the best beading and embroideries. Every model walking was gorgeous in everything! We've come to expect so much from him and again he does not disappoint! Breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteDaniel Roseberry is the most elegant designer currently working at a major fashion house. His work is sublime with such beautifully designed and crafted garments. The toreador inspired suits were amazing and the gown shown @ 2:37 is stunning. His taste is simply beyond reproach.

ReplyDeleteReally a wonderful runway. It is so reminiscent of early Schiaparelli yet has its own appeal and standing. I too adore that black suit with fur and muted polka dots.
