No Monday Bitching Blues today! On Friday the work got put away and the holiday time commenced. The weekend was spent up in the Pocono's at the Woods for the Frat Boy Weekend theme, where I was to meet up with a ex co-worker friend of mine.... but for me the best part was the Saturday night dancing at the clubhouse to celebrate the Queen of Pop, Madonna's 67th birthday. GULP. She came out when I was in 8th grade for Pete's sake. One of the few still around with a career. Love or hate her, she has always been recognized for her continual reinvention and versatility more than any other artist in music production, songwriting and visual presentation, and her work has always pushed the envelope to incorporate social, political, sexual and religious themes, and have generated both controversy and critical acclaim alike spanning both the 20th and 21st centuries. So, the whole night dancing to her music drove us queens to the floor and on the edge. And getting caught up in Fever and Erotica with Manuel, my ex-coworker...well...we might have got carried away. I went from Erotica to Bad Girl real quick. What a way to start time off!
You can be sure of three things in life. Death. Taxes. Mistress serving us some sausage first thing on Monday morning. I have no complaints!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds fantastic, and just a wonderful post this morning!
ReplyDeleteThough Mags is only.... 3 years older than me... :(
Madonna is slightly older than I am. Just slightly. These are a great way to start off the week.

ReplyDeleteI want some of that cake! With Paul Newman!
ReplyDeleteWe adore Queen Madge: "I have the same goal I've had ever since I was a girl: I want to rule the world." And she'd do a fucking better job of it than any of the powers-that-be we have now! Jx
