SUNDAY AVIATORS

Some of my Sunday aviators that were here this morning. I have been going through bird seed like crazy. The guy at the garden center where I go, asks what kind of bird farm I run? He is also surprised so many feed from the sill. Today I found a slew of Golden Finch...
Usually in rain I see them, or overcast. I also don't currently have the seed  mesh socks up they feed from, so I'm surprised to see them window feeding.

The junco's are cute little birds and can get territorial I noticed, but I only accept good manners at the sill. And do they ever have a pretty song.

The doves setting in for a roost along with another junco.

And my Downey Woodpecker I captured last week when I was off one day. Very cute. I actually have a pair of them I found out.

Nothing batter than the weekends and days off. It also means a huge breakfast for me for starters.

The little demitasse was a gift from my neighbor this year. A set of 4 as she knows I love birds. They have been perfect for morning expresso.

UPDATE....
For more bird interest, thanks to fellow blogger Lena, go here to watch live cam of the Bald Eagle couple in Southwest Florida. It's very interesting.

  1. I also saw a gold finch the other day (our state bird!). The Engineer saw a robin. We've also had red-wing blackbirds. Supposedly a sign of spring.
Eventually. Nobody told them we are having freezing rain, snow, sleet and temps in the 20s all week. About six inches of snow right now. xoxoxox

  3. The demitasse is beautiful! And I love all those birds at your window (and nearby). Goldfinches are here, but the others are not. I miss them, but not enough to move back to the snow!

  4. You made me think of the song 'Feed the Birds' in Mary Poppins, Mistress. I would cast you in a remake of that movie!

    1. "Early each day to the steps of Saint Paul's
The little old bird woman comes
In her own special way to the people she calls
Come, buy my bags full of crumbs

Come feed the little birds, show them you care
And you'll be glad if you do
      Their young ones are hungry
      Their nests are so bare
All it takes is tuppence from you"

  5. It truly does surprise me just how close you can get to your windows for these wonderful pictures. I haven't seen any finch here and I too have never seen them on my sills. Those tree shots are amazing. May I join you for breakfast one day?

  7. Stay warm, and I'm shocked there are birds feeding while it's snowing outside. I'm used to birds migrating south where I live.

God, I could use a mimosa right now.

  11. You have put them enough at ease to capture their image. They look very content! We have finches at our feeder also, but they flee when I try to sneek up on them with a camera

    1. When I started doing it, I was very shocked to see them feeding there. And often when I'm in the kitchen, they don't budge. But when guest are here they will fly away.
