Happy Hallows Eve

Happy Hallows Eve everyone! I was sitting here wondering today what the history of the day was. So, the curios little creature I was did some searching. The history of Halloween was started by the Celts who lived in the area that is now Ireland, United Kingdom and Northern France, who celebrated their new year November 1. This day marked the end of summer, the harvest, and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on that night before, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead blurred. It is believed the ghosts of the dead returned to the earth. To commemorate the event huge bonfires were built where people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the deities. Costumes were typically worn to ward spirits off as were lit pumpkins with craved scary faces on them. The night became known as All Hallows Eve and eventfully known as Halloween.

As Europeans came to America, they brought their varied Halloween customs with them. "Play parties" were held to celebrate the harvest, and neighbors would share some stories of the dead, in addition to dancing and singing took place. In the second half of the nineteenth century, America was flooded with new immigrants who were fleeing the Potato Famine of 1846 and would bring with them Irish and English traditions of people dressed up in costumes and go house to house asking for small cakes, treats, or money, a practice that eventually became known as trick or treat, and the craving of the pumpkins would also continue.

At the turn of the century, Halloween parties for children and adults took place and were a way to celebrate the day. Parents were encouraged by newspaper and community leaders to take anything "frightening" and " grotesque" out of the traditions of Halloween, which since then the holiday lost most of it's superstitious and religious overtones. I still love Halloween though, its one of my favorite holidays. Will you have any rituals tonight? And watch out for the dead. Tootles!

Aunt Barbara Celebrates Halloween

I just love me some Aunt Barbara! Even though she isn't right.

From the Candy Shop....All Hallows Eve

Now, the Mistress loves just a little bit of men. A sexy, well built, handsome man, with great arms and pecs, and men in costumes is even better! Instead of the usual focus of one hot guy this week, for Halloween I thought I would show many hotties in some Halloween finery! All I know is, I hope that some of these hunks come by tonight for some tricks or treats, because I have plenty of treat to give them, and some tricks to show them!!!

Vampire Waltz

The Mistress was in a very calm mood today and was listening to some classical music when it occurred to me. Wouldn't Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata be the best piece of music for a Vampire Ball! Could you just see them all, dressed to the nines in very high, elegant fashion, opulent masks and cordial gestures, floating across the floor to this. After all, it is almost Halloween night. This is what I'll fall asleep to very shortly. Tootles!

Carving of the Pumpkins

Tonight the Mistress will be carving the pumpkins for the big Halloween night for the tricks or treaters who will be coming through the neighborhood. And leave it to that damn Martha Stewart to give me way to many ideas for the carving of them. Below are some of my favorites. I guess I will have to do some of these next year. I really like the ones painted black. Kind of spooky looking. I think I will probably do those. Next year I think I would like to do the haunted village that looks like houses. How neat in a big arrangment. How different are those? And I'm really feeling the "gourd men" in the last picture.

Now That's One Desperate WHORE

Alright people, now this story is off the charts, well, at least this one. Did y'all hear this story yet? Yesterday on the way home from work, I heard on the radio that a woman here in Philadelphia was soooooooooo desperate for World Series tickets that she actually created a Craig's list ad saying she would have sex in exchange for World Series tickets! The price would be negotiable and that they should let there imagination run free! She must have wanted to go to the game pretty damn bad. Turns out a undercover cop replies to the ad and she is now under arrest for prostitution! And I swear to y'all that this said woman wasn't moi. I mean, I know I have been getting into sports, but I would never do a thing like getting caught. I would have gone other avenues!!! I just can't believe anyone would want to see a game this bad. All I have to say to this woman is WHHOORREE!

Fly Me to the Moon

The Big......th , um,Birthday

Buster Bolfig isn't feeling to good today, as I think he had to much birthday celebrating last night! It was a nice quite weekend as the Mistress slid into her big.... never mind again what birthday, oh, 28th birthday! There were other obligations going on, and now I can get back on my regular schedule and get back to normal. We had a very lovely dinner last night on my birthday night, filled with wines, hor'd oeuvres, and a delicious dinner. Followed by more wine and some cake and ice cream. And then more wine. And there is much more wine to par take of yet.

And I think Buster is feeling a little better now, he lifted his head...finally!

The Mistress also received a beautiful flower arrangement from her thoughtful co-workers from the store. Just Beautiful.

And of coarse their was the usual wise ass that brought the "over the hill" balloons and the black roses! Aren't they funny. Well, at least my lawn wasn't polluted with all those damn lambs people put all over the lawns! So I thank all my lovelies for a very nice birthday and all your wishes as well. I wonder how I will handle 40? Tootles!

New Hope and It's Ghosts

The Mistress's fair little hamlet is just a couple minutes skip down the road from the quaint little town of New Hope. I've talked about it many times before. We love to go there and dine and dance a ditty on occasion. The town of New Hope in Bucks County lies on the west bank of the Delaware River, halfway between Philadelphia and New York City. A canal was built in the early 1800's and mules pulled barges transporting coal and lumber. Up to a couple years ago the borough still gave mule boat rides. Travelers to the two major cities would stay in the town overnight. Today, New Hope attracts tourist with it's many art and antique galleries, bed and breakfast, craft stores, New Age and witchcraft shops, high end boutiques and very fine restaurant dinning. It is a retreat for artist, a pretty good size gay community and various drag queens....and it's ghosts. Some say it is America's most haunted town. I have yet to do the tour, but the town offers a pretty good ghost tour from what I understand. Most of the places that are haunted, I have dined at and didn't have any disturbances I'm happy to say. Some of the places haunted are:

Inn at Phillips Mill

The 'home" to a woman who wanders the grounds and around the staircase and is also said to have been seen in a rocking chair.

The Logan Inn

It is said there are many ghost seen at this haunt. A soldier in the main dinning room, bar area and the basement has been seen. Room six is the one where a ghostly man's reflection has been seen in the mirror, and the phantoms of two children run amok through out the inn. We have ate and drank here many times, but haven't seen anything. One time though Boy-Toy and I were some of the only two diners there and I did have a eerie feeling, I have to admit!

Odette's

A brunch spot favorite of ours here. There are inexplicable cold spots, ghostly voices in the place, and the aroma of perfume from a woman who is said to have been murdered there. Some even say to see the ghost of Jessica Savitch, who was the first major female new anchor woman, who met a untimely death herself there, when her car backed up in the canal, where she drown.

Marsha Brown's

This is another of our favorite places to dine. Marsha Browns took over a old church that has been around since the early 1900's, and from time to time there have been eye witnesses who have seen two ghost in old suits. Some people believe them to be a part of the original congregation! So's long they aren't sitting next to me in the pew when we go soon to have dinner there!

People have also seen the night traveler all over the area. A ghostly hitch-hiker who appears as a young man with blond hair, wearing a jacket and toting a knap sack. He was killed late during the night, which is when he's been seen. Some claim to have seen many soldiers and George Washington himself as they all stayed here prior the night to his famous crossing of the Delaware River. Many think they return to past sites they once knew. A pretty interesting little town I have to say. If I ever take the tour I'll let you know. But I can tell you this the dinning there is phenomenal

Bitter:Sweet

One of the Mistress's favorite numbers! Subtley sexy vocals, laid back grooves, neo-nova personality and gentle touches of jazz go hand in hand in this single from LA based band Bitter: Sweet, my song of the moment. Tootles!

Loves Me A Gallanio

I LOVE Jonh Gallanio and his creations! I hope to receive one of his couture pieces for my birthday! These pictures are from his Fall 2009 collection he designed for Christian Doir, and I just love the feel of the yester-year vintage couture feel. I wound't mind the first and second outfits. How wonderful is that hat? Fabulous. Just fabulous!

Missing in Action

Work, work and more work. It seems to be never ending. All last week and this week the Mistress has been getting ready for the last big visit of the year with the CEO who will come and inspect the store and all the visuals around the store. And then last week there was a shake up at work and one of my superiors is no longer with us, so I will be taking their place at another store for a small clean up for the same vist they will be getting, and then going to the holiday kick off meeting in their place. No rest for the weary I say. Needless to say I will be missing in action for the Drunken Dust Bunny Weekend this weekend in New York with the other Dust Bunnies for some fun and frolic. And on top of that, it will suck because this bitch will be hitting the big.... oh, never you mind how old, but my birthday is at the end of the weekend. Alas, it appears I will be celebrating on the road.

Scary Pumpkins

I love me some pumpkins and even got some this season. Now I just have to crave them!

Philadelphia Fanatics

This is getting very scary all this sports talk coming from the Mistress's mouth of late, but I can't help but be proud of the Phillies big win last night. Philadelphia is in party mode big time right now. Looks like the Phillies are now heading to the play offs for the World Series again. I wonder who will win? Any guesses? I don't know who will win, but I tell you this, there are some damn handsome players in the Philadelphia Phillies including:

Cliff Lee. I'd be his catcher anytime!

Cole Hamels. Sexy with that long hair.

Chase Utley, I could play a game of chase with him!

Ryan Madson,adorable!

And who can forget ex-team member Pat Burrell!

If the Phillies do win it will be mass chaos again for like two weeks straight like it was last year. Ah well, good luck Phillies and here's hoping you win. I'll be the one with the bright red suit, very large chapeau, and dark glasses in the stands with the sparklers cheering you on!

Terror Behind the Walls

The Eastern State Penitentiary is considered one of America's most historic prisons. And I'm here to tell ya it is scary as hell looking from Interstate 95! And it is haunted! Just look at these creepy interior shots.

The penitentiary was in operation from 1829 until 1971 and housed such notorious criminals such as Al Capone and Willie Sutton, and is currently a National Historic Landmark. The prison is also said to be just a bit haunted where many a person has seen some paranormal activity happening. As early as 1940, inmates and officers began reporting supernatural phenomena. Since it was abandoned in 71', the number of ghost sightings has increased. A couple years ago at Halloween, the penitentiary has started a tour called Terror Behind the Walls. Some of my work friends want to go to see it, but I don't think so, thank you very much! Ya see, the Mistress doesn't deal well with things popping out at her, well, at least not those things! I remember making quite a spectacle once yelling and screaming at the top of my lungs in a haunted house, sweating and hyper ventilating. I even turned around to exist back threw the enter door, and even got nasty with a woman who wouldn't move out of my way! A little embarrassing, considering it was only three year ago! So I will decline this temping offer, but will tour it on the regular tour though out the year. I don't mind ghost now, I even hope to see one when I tour it. But the idea of these crazy assholes popping out at me- forget it. Do you believe in ghost? And do you think these haunted houses? And here's a creepy video of Terror Behind the Walls. Tootles!
