Divas to The Dance Floor This Memorial Day

It's finally here, the weekend!!! Yea! What is everyone up to for the holiday weekend? Anything fun or dirty? I know I 'm going to enjoy the weekend. The Mistress has off for four days and I'm afraid I'm getting used to these short weeks. Love them. And it already started out with a wonderful dinner with a friend of Indian food at a new nearby Indian Bistro, Aman's Indian Bistro.! Delish, except I think the curry is sneaking up on moi. The Mistress has a full weekend of plans and as a single lady! The Boy-Toy is away visiting friends and the Mistress is tending to fun filled things in a couple ways-

1-Sighting and seeing and some cock-a-tails and schmoozing.

Tomorrow is the Barnes Art Museum with a friend. I've been meaning to check this out for some time. The Barnes Foundation houses one of the finest collections of nineteenth and twentieth-century French painting in the world. An extraordinary number of masterpieces by Renoir, Cézanne and Matisse provide a depth of work by these artists unavailable elsewhere. Then in the evening I'm meeting up with another good friend in New Hope to catch a band, Bonehead, at one of the local eateries, and then maybe to see some of the boys at The Raven for some fun and frolic.

2-Divas to the dance floor please! Who doesn't like the song, and a Sunday Tea Dance at the Nevermore! This will be so fun!

3-Getting rid of hangover.
Monday will, I'm sure, be spent sleeping in, part of the day anyway, as the Mistress will probably be a little hung from Sunday. A picnic to tend too, maybe, we will see. If this ho is too tired, she may just make a tray of deviled eggs and inhale them! Even single, this bitch is still crazy!!! Have a Happy Memorial Day y'all! Tootles!

He is openly gay and an LGBT rights supporter, as well as an ambassador for amfAR (The Foundation for AIDS Research) and the national ambassador for The Hetrick-Martin Institute. BP-What a Quagmire!!!

The Mistress is generally a very happy person and not much gets to me or upsets me like this disaster from BP! It's time to sound off!!! I can not understand the fucking dumb asses and the head of BP, the head asshat with the big teeth, who know the one,the slhep that never gives a straight yes or no answer. He's always dancing! And BP acts so nonchalant about finding a way to shut the damn thing off, or plug it already, and then they lied about how many gallons were coming out of it in the first place! But it isn't effecting them. One month after the Deepwater oil rig exploded off the coast of Louisiana, killing 11 workers, oil is still spewing out of the pipe a mile underwater at a rate of 210,000 gallons or more a day. To date, the explosion sent at least 6 million gallons of oil spilling into the Gulf Coast, according to the Coast Guard, with cleanup costs moving upwards of $760 million. BP has tried a myriad of tactics to plug the leak and contain the spread of the oil. But as of last Thursday, the oil had reached land, its impact stretching from the Louisiana wetlands and all the way to Dauphin Island, in Alabama. The spill has put thousands of fishermen out of work and stalled the local fishing industry indefinitely. Many fishermen are taking part in cleanup efforts, but most are being forced to rely on public assistance and charity to make ends meet. The states affected and all the workers out of work should file a damn class action suit against BP for all their worth followed by the federal government!Last week, BP tried to stem the leak with a 100-ton concrete and steel dome structure. That failed on Saturday when methane hydrates got into the dome and clogged up an outlet for the oil. This sucker is still leaking- and badly- so BP has had to come up with more techniques. According to NPR, one of the potential solutions is a double pipe that has a gasket. If the pipe can be shoved into the larger pipe that's leaking oil, it would allow the oil to be offloaded to ships. If that fails, BP will try deploying a smaller dome "top hat" equipped with methanol to prevent methane hydrates from plugging it up. Another last-ditch effort that BP said it was considering on Monday sounds almost too insane to be real, but it apparently worked before in Kuwait during the Gulf War: the "junk shot." Essentially a bunch of stuff like golf balls, rope, and shredded tires will be lumped into a ball and shot into the well. If the ball can form a barrier with the half-open blowout preventer, it might make it possible for cement to be injected into the site to seal the leak. Even a junk shot would take a couple of weeks to ready. It's just so sad to also see the poor wildlife and marsh animals who didn't ask for any of this, some of which just came off a endangered species list. Just sad.

Looks like it's time for my favorite comic picture... yet again!

Grande Dame of the Week

The storm of Miss April Showers!

If you were to take a little glamour, mix it with style and grace, then toss in some sex appeal, with a hint of diva , you would get Miss April Showers. She first stepped into the drag scene in the summer of 1995,when April started doing drag in Cincinnati, Ohio performing at the Dock and Chasers. Once sharpening her act, fine tuning her makeup, and stocking her wardrobe she then moved to Dayton in September 1997 and was on the Celebrity show cast. She has competed in numerous national pageants, making top 12 in several of them. She has over 15 bar and city titles. April has now taken her act to the big bright lights out west and living and working in Las Vegas and last year crowned Miss Gay USofA @ Large 2009"

Where's Mariah Carey When You Need Her?

Well another weekend flew by and the Mistress relaxed for so long as she could before getting antsy. Come Sunday I was ready to go do something, so the Mistress and Boy-Toy decided to go to the Academy of Natural Sciences in downtown Philly. It was a little rainy so it would be a perfect day to go. The museum itself is chalk full of all kinds of interesting things. I've always enjoyed natural history. I at one time I even wanted to be a archaeologist, but the parents weren't going for that. Get a real job they said. Anyyyyyyywho, on the way to the museum I took this pic of the hostas outside in the garden. I love to see the water beads on leaves.

We planned on seeing the whole museum, but the main thing we wanted to see was the beautiful Butterfly Arboretum. It was quite spectacular to see with all the butterflies fluttering around you everywhere, and so many different kinds. I should have worn my Mariah Carey get-up and sang my best Butterfly to all!!! I even learned a couple things I hadn't known before. Butterflies, features a lush, tropical garden filled with colorful plants and a multitude of live butterflies from Central and South America, East Africa, and Southeast Asia. The arboretum changes every day. Butterflies will usually have between 90 to 180 butterflies and 20 to 40 different species on any given day. Adult butterflies usually live for one to two weeks and the Academy of Science receives new butterflies from around the world each week. So, what's here one week probably won't be the same as what we saw here this weekend. They also have a window in which to look through to see level upon level of the cocoons where the caterpillars perform their metamorphosis. Some were still cocooned, while others were coming out,so neat to see. Here are just a few of the species we saw.

After the museum we had a wonderful lunch and then on to some cock-a-tails at one of our favorite bars to bring this baby of a weekend home, before heading back to work for the week.A long, but a fun day.Tootles.

Digital Lover

Over the weekend, the Mistress and the Boy-Toy enjoyed a few cock-a-tails at one of our favorite bars where we will just sit and watch videos by the hours! Yes, hours. Of course, we never remember leaving the place. Digital Lover popped up from two years ago, and now I can't get it out of my head. The video, by the legendary house artists, P-1, takes a pop twist and then twists that even more by adding footage from Betty Boop, who I love watching. A fun video from a great band.

From the Candy Shop

Please forgive the poor Mistress for not opening the Candy Shop in some time! She had alot to say of late, but now the sweet tooth is craving some nice eye candy. Feast your eyes on these nice, plump gumballs and sugarplums!!! I do admire a man with a some nice ass-sets! Samples all around! Tootles.

The Weekend, Yea!

Wow! Did this week ever go by fast. Of course it was only a three day work week for yours truly!! The weather is gonna be lovely, and I though about having a English tea out in the garden...but that might get some odd looks from some of our neighbors, although I did have a very elegant dinner party for the Boy-Toy when we were in our courting days....you know, fancy china, stemware, linens, fresh out flowers, the whole nine yards. But when the passion over took and we took out the whole table.....JK! No, the Mistress has a whole weekend with no plans. I can't believe how nice it is. I think I'll take it- after all, the last couple weeks and weekends have been filled to the gills! With events and spirits! I think I'll just enjoy this one before round two hits and we start all over again. Whats your plans for the lovely weekend? Hope you all have a good ole' time!!!! Tootles!

Vanessa Williams Moves to Wisteria Lane!

The best damn news, my fix will get a boost!!!There goes the neighborhood! An ABC rep confirms that when Desperate Housewives returns next season, its cast will include — as a series regular, no less — Vanessa Freakin’ Williams! Series creator Marc Cherry told us previously that he was looking for a new troublemaker to fill the void left by the demise of Nicollette Sheridan’s Edie. And seriously, could he — or anyone — do any better than the actress formerly known as Ugly Betty‘s queen of mean, Wilhelmina? Didn’t think so. Though other deets are at the moment scarce, TV Guide Magazine (which first broke the news) reports that her conniving character won’t be at the center of next season’s big mystery. So what do you think, girls? This sounds soooooooooo good to me, it borders on too good to be true.

Grande Dames of the Week

This week two divas, the Ebony Enchantress Victoria Lace.....

and the charitable Miss Pumpkin!

These two divas are one hell of a power house right here in the Mistress's own backyard. Victoria Lace and Miss Pumpkin have been entertaining the crowds of New Hope, Pennsylvania and the greater Philadelphia area for many years now, and often times have been the only two resident queens to keep the tradition of drag going in such a huge gay town. These two together have lots of talent, many jokes, and laughs to go round, the the two of them also have raised a huge amount of good times and funds for all kinds of charities and good causes. Whenever in a pinch, they can be counted on to put together a wonderfully entertaining show with a cause! They also add a lots spirit and presence to the gay pride festivities working the crowds to a frenzy. If not for these two, New Hope and their shows would be just plain dull. Their shows together have really become quite a extravaganza, and they are pillars of the community. They can be seen at The Raven for special shows. We thank these two for their great talent, big hearts, and for being charitable.
