    1. To be fair, he denied heterosexuality, too. He thought everybody was everything. The argument can be made he was an early proponent of what's now called pansexuality. But his personal relationships seemed to be mostly with men.

    1. I do believe one night with him would have been very interesting conversation and a time.

And I'm speaking of a vertical stance of course.

    1. Vidal and Norman Mailer--a champion of Beat writers who was nonetheless surprisingly unaware about what so many of those writers had in common--were in a car together when the former made that revelation about Kerouac, and the shock caused Mailer to drive right off the road! It actually hurt Vidal's and Mailer's friendship for a number of years, but I believe they had patched things up by the time of the latter's death.

    2. Both of you...what interesting tidbits I did not know of! I do know the Kerouac and Vidal were both very handsome in their young days....can only imagine.

PS Although others here may believe it to be true, I do not believe these "paedophile" rumours. The accusations were only made by a nephew and a half-sister who were contesting the great man's will. I suggest people read this. Jx
