SILLY SYMPHONY

We know I love me birds, so when I came across this silly symphony, one of the most favorite and most famous from Disney, Who Killed Cock Robin, I wondered if this is what goes on in the bird world. The Red Tailed Hawk I hear is wanted around here. I also thought Anne Marie would enjoy the title.

  2. That was fun! Luv the Mae West bird, spot on impression! And talk about police brutality! Bird court is like the Taliban, no defense and they only read your crimes and execute you, regardless of innocence or guilt. Justice isn't just blind, it's deaf and dumb, too! But I love the end, when it was love who set things right and brought about true justice and a positive resolution. All we need is love!

    1. The Mae West bird was why I fell in love with this one. Can't you just hear her to her pigeon assistant?

She tells me see, there are eight robins at the door. I says, I'm exhausted tonight, send one home.

    2. No, it's not that. It's just that when we watched these as kids, my parents would snarkily point out the racism in these. It was quite upsetting to wonder if the featured black birds were going to talk like Steppin fetchit or Amos and Andy. I can't look at any of these now without being offended on some level. They are a product of their times but their times hurt.

    3. Yikes. I had to go back and watch again with a different prespective. Just goes to show how child like and innocent my mind is. And my love of birds.I was thinking eveyone would see me as Jenny Wren. Yikes my apologies Duntchess Deedles.🥀⚘🌾

    4. Oh, sweetie, there is absolutely no reason for you to apologize! I love how childlike and innocent your mind is! The racist aspects of some of these old entertainments (Mickey and Judy blackface included) are not experienced by everyone. I do enjoy the cleverness of a lot of these. They were not made for children :) I think it is funny that you identified with Jenny Wren because instead of seeing Mae West, I saw Charles Pierce in Mae West bird drag! Hugs, darlin'.

  4. Brought the corpse right into the courtroom! I love it! Would have been funny had there been a cat involved.

  14. Oh, I haven't seen this Silly Symphony since I was a kid. How could anyone forget Jenny Wren? I loved these when I was a kid but now can't miss how often racism crept in. And this one there was that Cupid character! Still... Jenny Wren. (Oh, and why am I not surprised you call it Robin?)

    1. Yes, dear Duchess Deedles just opened my eyes to a side I didn't see at first. I'm so preoccupied with animals and inanimate objects dancing and singing.
