Not what the usual fare of the Candy Shop, or a Late Night post would be, but he did emit sexual intensity none the less. Prince has been a Casa favorite from time to time. After all, I grew up on Prince and Madonna. Prince... never sacrificing his art for any recording company... Prince was a American pop and soul/funk singer, guitarist, and songwriter. As an artist in the studio, Prince blended pop, dance, rock, soul, funk, and rhythm and blues in his memorable songs. As a performer onstage, he entertained with sexually provocative imagery and complex productions that shaped the concert landscape throughout the 1980's. But mostly his music brought people together for all the right reasons.
Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 – April 21, 2016
This was the first song and video I ever saw from Prince in 1984, and I became an instant fan. Of course Thrillermania had yet to hit it's peak, but when I saw Prince he was totally different than MJ. Prince had this charisma and energy that set him apart from the King of Pop
ReplyDeleteI myself always enjoyed Prince more. More more artistic to me.
DeleteThe music by PRINCE brings back memories of a time in my life that were the most fun! Being a teenager in the 80s and hearing his music went hand in hand. He wasn't mu usual type, but there was just something sexy about him.
ReplyDeleteA true artist......there becoming far and few between.
ReplyDeleteI first saw this video on "Radio 1990," a Cape Cod tv show, in the great summer of 1984.
ReplyDeleteI literally jumped out of my seat.
what I most will miss will be his daring style. I also like how you seemed to never hear anything bad about him.
ReplyDeleteHe wore what he wore with no qualms.
DeleteIntriguingly unique, genuinely sensual, another luminary gone too soon.
ReplyDeletePrescient and profound lyrics, I didn't realize how cogent this song's message was when I heard it as a high school senior. Prince was a remarkably mature musician and lyricist.
ReplyDeleteAn artist in the true sense of the word.
ReplyDeleteJean-Paul
Since you like the pinks, does this mean you and Guido are wearing Raspberry Berets today?
DeleteHis influence has forever shaped the history of music.
ReplyDeleteI seem to be playing his "Kiss" on a continuous loop.
ReplyDeleteKiss, on a continuous loop, is there any other way?
DeleteI came to the Prince fan base late as I was very young like inter uterus young. But I really grew to like his music. My favorite song became Cream. He just had a sound that was slightly different from the rest. And like Madonna, each song was so different, you never knew what was coming next.
ReplyDeleteFunny you mention Madonna. In late 1989 they actually did a very low profile duet together called Love Song.
DeleteHe will be missed. As much as I like his hits such as Kiss, 1999 and the list goes on, It was his B-Sides and non singles that I really went crazy over. 3121, Future Baby Mama, Scarlet Pussy, I can go on for days. When I first heard Love Song from the Like a prayer album I nearly lost my mind. That song still sends me into an erotic state of "Wow!"
DeleteUnfortunately sometimes it really does snow in April.
You will be missed.

I agree Mark, the B-sides are sometimes the best aren't they? I find that with many artist. I had to listen to Love Song after I replied to Josh.
Delete"Let's go crazy" - one of my favourite Prince songs!
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike.
DeletePrince was an outstanding musician, and I loved his videos back in the day. I never owned his music, but I didn't need to since I would hear his music on the radio all the time.
ReplyDeleteI need to correct that today. Time to go shopping on Amazon Music.
i'm pissed off at him. i thought he was smarter
ReplyDeletethan michael, whitney & the rest of them.
