SEEN IN PHILLY

It's always a pleasure returning back down to Philadelphia and Bucks County whenever I can. Being back in Harrisburg is nice, but I already have a time limit of a couple of years before I return back to the southeast. While I grew up here, and have family and friends alike here, Harrisburg is...nice... but seriously lacks enough to keep me occupied in the way of culture, not to mention the wonderful vibrant, and energetic feel of Philadelphia. Not to mention one is not surrounded by  conservative reds. I feel the area here is a seesaw of blue and red...just barely teetering blue by a thread. When I was down at my pied de terre and Philly alike, I could train and walk to everything for the most part. I miss that. This weekend didn't disappoint as the city was alive with spring all over. Furthermore, the boys..awwwwww the boys. I had met up with several friends from the city, the Lumbersexual came in from Doylestown, in all his ginger hotness ...and a great drag show of support and cheering on for Philly's own Sapphira Cristal were the highlights of this trip. Here are some snaps from the wonderful weekend. The flavored mojitos at Mixto and brunch were worth the trip alone.

I appreciate the OCD and order in the case by color.

I can never get enough of the City Hall and its architecture and grounds. No matter what side your on, inside or outside, it is just spectacular.

My favorite building in all of Philadelphia.

  4. I have long loved Philly as my city. If not for the symphony and Philly and the southeast, I don't know I'd even remain in Pennsylvania. The city here has a lot to offer, walkable, hence it's always very high walkable city rates, and the diversity of its people and neighborhoods is amazing. I've been to Harrisburg, but a shame nothing was open, and for mid-week it was surprising...and it seemed very charming, but limited for things to see and do in the downtown area. The capitol was jewel.

Mixto!!!! Being Cuban and Brazilian I'm not shocked you liked this place. I mean the waiters alone are enough for a visit!!

    1. And I don't know when you were in Doylestown, but you know that's where I lived! We could have got together and had lunch meat.

    2. It was waaaaay back in the 90s. If we had known each other back then, I surely would've been in contact, cuz a personal lunch meat tour wouldda been a lot of fun!

  11. Beautiful pictures, and the first few were a surprise for me. I thought you had to live where I do to see those. If I remember, we're Yokohama's sister city due to similar climates.

    1. Oh no RJ Harrisburg is far more red. The southeast which is considered Bucks County and Philadelphia was much more blue. As a matter of fact in the last election the Dems practically swept Bucks County. I will say though that the Republicans in the southeast are very liberal. When it comes to financial matters is what makes them Republican. The southeast Republicans Drive the Republicans in the rest of the state up the wall. It's generally the southeast and Pittsburgh that barely get the state blue.

    Tundra Bunny here...

Your clan looks like a happy bunch to hang around with and Sapphira's look is stunning! She kind of reminds me of Cher in the film "Mermaids", but without the dark hair of course, LOL! Thanks for the tour of Philadelphia -- it looks like a very vibrant city in which to live or visit. And those Eggs Benedict and mojitos made my tastebuds water!

  19. What a lovely post! I was just there a few weekend ago with daughter for lunch at Parc. I love that Philly has so many parks and public spaces to sit and relax. Nothing like Rittenhouse Square, Washington Square West and Logan Circle in the spring. The trees and flowers are in abundance and so pretty.

    Do I spy Elfreths Alley?

    1. I don't think there's a park in Philly I don't like. Yes Elferths Ally!

    1. You should make a point to come sometime. But there is much Ben Franklin to be seen. He and William Penn had a lot of influence in the planning and development of Philadelphia and the southeast.
