THE BLACK BASS

Today was one of those perfect days, beyond perfect days, weather wise. I took a nice walk about in New Hope along the canal to avoid crowds... and decided to bite the bullet and finally dine out. I called ahead and made a reservation for one at the Black Bass Hotel in Lumberville.

Built in the 1740s, the Black Bass Hotel served as a haven for travelers, traders, and sportsmen.
The famous tavern had many names through the years including Wall’s Tavern, Lumberville Hotel, Temple Bar, The Rising Sun and finally The Black Bass Hotel. It's one of the oldest inns in the country. It's also where I have run into Nicole Kidman  and Christian Slater on separate occasions. Over the years many famous have stayed here reads like a who's who, but for today it was just the Mistress on the back deck over looking the Delaware River. It was a perfect day and had the deck almost entirely to myself. Sitting mysteriously in the corner with huge wide brim and veiled. Passerbys only saw a figure, taking many sips of my libation under a hat.
It was a lovely relaxing day and evening.....the view!

    1. I didn't mind and it was spur of the moment. Plus I have no problem going to places myself as I like my own time...although after months of it, it might have been nice.

  4. I'm so glad you had a wonderful meal Dining Out and that it was a pleasant, safe feeling experience. We began doing that too, at the places we feel Safe doing so, it makes Life seem more Normal during Pandemic, since Dining Out is something that we've always enjoyed doing and we want to support our local favorite Restaurants. I think the Food and Hospitality Industries really took a huge hit during this Pandemic, Restaurants work with such small margins.

    1. I have to say Dawn It felt great dinning out. And to curb crowds just about all our places are by reservation only...even pubs that server food. It was wonderful. Luckily the community here is tight knit and will support local over chain first. Hence why so many chains have shuttered.

  5. Oh Mistress, passerbys probably thought you were the spirit of Greta Garbo.

Black Bass Hotel is probably are hands down favorite place to dine in all of the southeast. Years ago it's where we saw Ethel Merman, and she even got up and sang one song after dinner urged her enough. I just love that place, and I am in love with the roses on the canal. Glad you enjoyed your day. And nice to hear they were not crowded.

    1. If you decide to go I think you'll feel very safe. And as your aware Lumberville is a good secret to us locals. New Hope is too crazy on weekends for my comfort. I go during the week for take away... when tourist are gone.

  9. I am envious and at the same time happy you have an opportunity to experience normality, sugarpie! We're on elder lockdown and even though favorite restaurants are offering alfresco dining, there are just far too many people going without masks and totally forgetting physical distancing! Even being with the Krewe here, I am starting to go stir crazy! xoxo

    1. New Hop is the same on weekend...just too many tourist. This place I went is way or hidden away off the main happening of things. the trick is you have to know when to go. If a place is crowded I won't go. Of course we are only allowing a 25% capacity here and mask have to be worn, except when at table eating. I did go stir crazy and that why I went. A treat not to be had often in these times lambchop.

    1. We have been there three times. On the last visit, the service was so slow I don't know what happened. We mostly go to Black Bass, because Williams is friends with the executive chef.

      We miss eating out.

  11. As Sebastian Colins mentioned above, it does look very English. Just with better weather.
I'm considering going out for a walk around my little corner of England, but despite being the Summer Bank Holiday, it is nigh on flipping freezing! Barely into double digits at the mo.

    1. Yes I can hear Jon breaking furs out of cold storage as we speak. You would love this area. many settlers from England settled this area, hence why if feels a lot like parts of England. You'd probably be at home away from home for you. Tis rather cool here today too.

  15. You live the most divine life, hon. I swear. Such class. I wish I could follow ten steps behind you just so some of your fine taste would rub off on me. Thanks for sharing this. I am still too chicken to even go to an outdoor patio happy hour, wearing a mask and sitting six feet apart. Well, I would, but the idea of it freaks out the three people I do see every day. Hope you had a lovely meal. Kizzes.

    1. Why can't we live closer?!?!?!? It's a simple life right now. I couldn't take it anymore!!!!! I also knew to go on a off hour...and I won't do a happy hour in fear if to many people. They have a huge deck, I and one other table of three ladies were the only tables seated out of around 20 tables, so I wasn't too worried. The way to navigate this is to know where and when to go. I won't make this a habit though till this passes. But my guard is beginning to crack since I live alone.

  20. I want to share with you my testimony of how I joined this great organization of ILLUMINATI, Really I was so poor and my life was almost close to death, i tried many times to join illuminati but all was in vain where by i was facing fake people who were claiming to be agents of illuminati. They ate my money without helping me out there i loosed hope in illuminati. But because i was very interested and focused on my dream, I continued trying there I meet another person who told me he will help me out still i didnt trust him at all because of the first pain i passed through,he still also asked me to send him money there i get scared but with time he sent me his membership id card, trust in him little and i accepted to send him money, but what amazed me is that immidiately after sending him money for initiation items,  i got intiated within  2hour  onlines and i recieve my  $1,000,000 directly to my account there i trusted him more and he is the only agent i trust because he helped me seriously. So my friend if you want to join illuminati  contact him on WhatsApp +2348180828544, i dont have that authority of joining anyone
