I needed a break off yesterday from the news and internet for the most part. But I have enjoyed our snow fall and cold temps we got. I have been and always have been enthralled by the huge icicles we get. Most of the houses in the neighborhood have huge icicles hanging. While the back doesn't have any, it's another story in the front.
I've long said...they'd make the perfect murder weapon.
The evidence melts away.
When my parents lived in the Sierra nevada Mountains in California, they would get the most amazing icicles hanging from the eaves ... many long enough to reach the ground!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty, but the thought of a murder weapon that melts away all evidence did cross my mind. πΏπΏπΏ
Breathtaking. Nice view. But I’ve seen enough now.
ReplyDeleteIf one could drop off the the portico at the White House at just the right moment!
ReplyDeleteI thought the same thing....but icicles wouldn't form there what with all that hot air escaping......
DeleteLMAOOO
DeleteOh, great minds....
XOXO

ReplyDeletePut some in the freezer and use it in the summer, that will really stump them π.
Bloody brilliant!
DeleteHhhm, I don't have icicles. The snow here is a bit crunchy underfoot, and there are a number of yellow spots, but that's about it.
ReplyDeleteAnd as a public service announcement to all, remember January snow is good to eat .. just avoid the yellow snow.
DeletePretty amazing, but how about this https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyzv2p46q3o ?
ReplyDeleteThe ribbon ice is so pretty that could be a accoutrement in my winter wigs! I don't know if you record or not but the last two winners actually broke a nice single or two off the roof and used it for my cocktail stirs. Double-edged. Stirs while it chills. Mind you, there's so much gin in my gin and tonics that the Ice Spike melted instantly.
DeleteThose are some impressive icicles! And you're right...a GREAT murder weapon!
ReplyDeleteI have about 20 spoken for already!!! All the recipients just happen to be in DC.
DeleteYikes! Say....you wouldn't want to lure a certain someone over and do the deed, would you? I'm sure the Houseboys would alibi you. π
ReplyDeleteHey.... I have no kids and very little family.. I'll take one for the country!
DeleteYes Maddie, that's what I was talking to you about in last weekend's email, only bigger, 8 to 10 inches in diameter. I wish I had pictures but they hadn't invented cameras that long ago! :-P
ReplyDeleteOh so you like them big too huh?
DeleteWell, you can always depend on Mother Nature delivering eight or more inches of something every winter.
ReplyDelete"...perfect murder weapon. The evidence melts away"

Absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to murder someone in the summertime, use a frozen leg of lamb then cook and eat it.
Disclaimer, I am not speaking from experience! π
I don't know that voice sounds awfully experienced!
DeleteNever seen anything like that in the UK! Mind you, the link in Helen's reply is pretty awesome too. Jx
ReplyDeleteRibbon ice is rather beautiful isn't it dear? As I told Helen I've been known to snap some of the ice spikes off the roof and use them as my cocktail stirs. Stirs and chills!
DeletePretty.
ReplyDeleteThat looks very pretty!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's the side that faces the sun, that gets them? We didn't get any. But it's been colder than a witch's tit in a copper bra.
XOXO
I love (carefully) breaking off icicles from the eaves.

A shame some of these aren't outside the white house entrance.....
ReplyDeleteI remember eating them as a kid. I always thought of them as magical.
