Kids, meet Romanian singer/songwriter, Bianca Nits or Brianna as she is simply known. She's been singing and under contract since she was 14, but it was in 2019 with her song Lost in Istanbul that caught my attention. I had forgotten how much I loved the song until recently. The song swept the charts from Poland, Russia, Germany, Turkey, Romania, Greece and many other countries, but alas, never made a dent here in the US. She is still going strong with many collations with Thrace Music in her home country.
I like her sound and the video. It almost makes me want to visit Istanbul... except for the LGBTQ rights issues.
ReplyDeleteMy friend Jamie and his Husband Michael just spent time in Istanbul over Christmas for almost 3 weeks. They said it was absolutely breathtaking and so beautiful and we're almost heartbroken to leave. They also said the food was incredible. They personally didn't have any issues and no one is gayer than Jamie trust me. I think going in the expected to have some problems though but they didn't.
DeleteThey might have an attitude problem, and they're certainly nowhere near "progressive" on equal marriage or LGBT family rights, but Turkey is positively on a par with the Netherlands in comparison to its neighbouring Arab and assorted Muslim states. The current government may be oppressive, but certainly not the worst of a bad bunch. Jx
DeleteI can agree with Jon and your friends Mistress. A group of us went about three years ago. It was simply a stunning city, delicious food, a quite a cultural experience. The people couldn't have been nicer, and all the hotel and wait staff in dinning establishment couldn't have been more warm and welcoming...and it's not like we hid the fact we were "pickle kissers."
DeleteWhat a beautiful song! I've listened three times already.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!!! I enjoy finding new artist and songs to listen too...thirsty even. Mainstream artist have lost the edge, and get such constant airing and targeting, it gets to be burn out and then I dislike mainstream to the point of not listening. Give me the little known any day.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely. I very seldom listen to any mainstream anymore, except for new house music. If the radio is on, it's only set to WRTI classical or jazz.
DeleteBeautiful voice, and I love the music by itself, too.
ReplyDeleteCatchy beat!
ReplyDeleteInteresting. That middle eastern beat is quite catchy.
ReplyDeleteMy brain originally translated the heading as late night banana. This is not my kind of music, I'm more a 60s and 70s pop plus folk and the classics.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I actually do like some folk music. I've been known to enjoy a little Irish Celtic also.
DeleteI've had a few enormous Irish Celtic... Jx
DeleteIrish, Dutch and Czech! Now there is a nice creation of a phallic.
DeleteLove!
ReplyDeleteThe beat is super cool. The voice is super sweet. Istambul is horrible when it comes to LGBTQ rights, though. Slightly better that in other muslim countries, but that is not really encouraging...
XOXO
I would love to visit there, but I don't know if I'm brave enough like Jamie and his Husband Michael my two friends. If I went I would definitely have to have a tour guide that would be recommended to me. But I'm happy looking at it from before for now.
DeleteNice song! My best friend during my college years was from Turkey, and during the pandemic he moved back to Istanbul. I'm afraid I'll never see or hear from him again. :-(
ReplyDeleteShe has a great voice.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
She's very pretty
ReplyDeleteI love the vibe of this song and the video has me missing the place. I was there once.
ReplyDeleteRelaxing, yet a nice beat. I liked it.
