WINTOUR IS COMING

The undisputed queen of the fashion and ice world turns 72 today.

Where would the fashion world be without Dame Anna Wintour? Vogue's legendary editrix has truly changed the game, has been at the helm for 31 year and by the looks of things, she intends to keep it that way. Whether you love her like I do, or hate her, their is no denying that this woman set standards and took her position and didn't need the approval of a man....in a time women just didn't have huge positions like this and for so long. When a man does this he is ambitious. But a woman is a power hungry bitch. She got balls, and I love that she won't let a man tell her no, and how can one not respect her for the empire she has resided over. Anna wasn't always the elusive and cold ice queen in Chanel suits with a patent-worthy icy stare that leaves half of Conde Nast shaking in their last season Prada. Their were rumors that she and Bob Marley had a hot and heavy affair in the late 70's. While she may not be the London party girl anymore, she certainly still has a wild side, and I bet she can throw'em back like the best of them. I'd be willing to knock back a few stiff ones with her one night,  and listen to some good dirty gossip about everyone. Wintour started her career in fashion at 15. What were you and I doing ar 15? I know some things I was doing and I won't mention it here. Wintour then went on to become the editor of two British publications, improving them greatly and doubling their fortunes and readerships before moving up in the ranks to become the editor of British Vogue and then ultimately, the American Vogue and has been since. In the meantime she was became the Chief Content Officer and the Artistic Director of Conde Nast. Not bad for some party girl model from the nightlife of London. Now 31 years and I still can't get enough of her. That signature blunt bob cut and the sunglasses....and she consistently shows that she is not afraid to push boundaries in the world of fashion. And how bad can she be? She worked with both Grace Coddington and Andre Leon Tally...two colorful characters that bit her ass but could also make her laugh. And by giving a damn about representation and female empowerment, Anna Wintour has become a fearless voice for woman everywhere.

And you better believe those pencils are all sharpened 8 times each.

Happy Birthday to the Ice Queen!

  1. No doubt she's celebrating by bathing in the blood of a virgin.

I'm sure she had to look far and wide...

  2. I never really followed her much, but no doubt she had the balls and went after what she wanted. And your right, if this were a man acting like this and "being tough" we wouldn't even blink.

Now Im going to have that song stuck in my head.

    1. That's about the only song from Me Banks I like. What a song for Anna!

  3. She's a fucking icon. Really.
She's not Diana Vreeland, but she's kept that magazine alive for years and years and years. Her opinion is law in the world of fashion. Is she the Devil? Yes. But one has to be in that position.
Love that you posted Azealia. So problematic. So fucking talented.

    XOXO

    1. I think Diana Freeland was the perfect balance of Anna and Grace. She seems to het ot done while being nice about things. So Anna did tarnish that a bit.

  4. That title .... Winter/Wintour, very cleaver play on words. I'm assuming Wintour was the inspiration behind the character in The Devil Wears Prada.

  5. She's got reputation. Good and bad. But, for some reason, women who are talented and knowledgeable get a bad rep fast. The staying power is what proves the naysayers wrong.

    1. And she seems to defintely have staying power.

  6. I think it is the Foreskin Serum that makes look younger. The hair hiding the face helps though.

    1. I can vouch for the foreskin serum. I look great for 110.

  7. I am still waiting for Absolute Winter to lead the charge against stick thin girls in fashion, removing by example stick thin people from photo shoots and the cat walk. Most of the models used nowadays still look as though they have been living in Yemen for the past few years. It is NOT healthy to be that thin, any more than it is healthy to be extremely obese.

    1. I agree. And who knows what she will do. That would be great. Although once on a trip to a small town in the US somewhere...she commented everyone was the size of small huts. We must remember that size 8,10 and 12 are average sizes....fat from fat.

  8. she was a very good friend of our Franca Sozzani. here on wikipedia. Her son Francesco Carrozzini here married Bee Shaffer in 2018, the daughter of Anna Wintour and child psychiatrist David Shaffer.

    1. Over here we hear more about Bee then her son. And I think she seemed pleased when Bee didn't have interest in fashion.

    2. did you see Francesco Carrozzini? how cute he is?

    3. Bee's husband is handsome as hell!!!! And I believe they just welcomed a baby. but Anna's son, Charles Shaffer from her second husband is ...meh. Sort of nerdy and non descript.

  9. J'adore Dame Anna Wintour! Azealia Banks, not so much. She doesn't deserve to mentioned in the same breath... Jx

PS the Bob Marley story's a bit of an urban myth, I believe - she debunked it in an interview on James Corden's show, apparently.

  10. I can't say too much abut Anna, except I too adore and respect her. Of course my own style is no to far off from hers. I had a bob when I was younger and it lasted 20 years.

If Anna was a man her temperament wouldn’t even be a topic. Happy Birthday to Anna!

  11. This woman is absolutely brilliant! She knows what she wants, has a clear vision and opinion. Powerful , straight and courage ! Great personality! Now, I wonder what she'd think of your accompanying song...I loved it myself.

  12. I'm a manager in my workplace. I don't have to be warm and fuzzy. I want results. I want numbers. I want shit DONE. Now... outside of work...... I am warm and fuzzy. Same thing with Anna Wintour probably. I totally get her.

There's something mesmerizing about Azealia's music. It's different, it's complex, it's not the typical generic rap that most rappers put out there. You might hate her problematic behavior, but you can't deny her talent and artistical unicity

  13. I can totally respect her position and the hard work she put in to secure a legendary run at Vogue...but someone should tell her you attract more flies with honey.

  14. With all due respect, I can't stand either one of them. And one person like that shouldn't hold all the power over a industry. Besides, I think her style looks too conservative and dowdy most days.

  15. People always have shit to say and against a successful woman who surpassed their comfort zones.

And Azealia Banks... honestly the dance and the simple video are everything. It's probably the only one I like from her.

  16. While I absolutely agree she’s an icon, just doesn’t give you the authority to be rude and obnoxious to people. That is the difference behind having class. We all strive to be great at what we do. Most of us wish to remain humble and thankful while doing so. Power is a true double edged sword. Like it or not !

  17. Oh... so you and her are fellow Scorpios. This explains a lot. LMAO!

I have always loved Anna Wintour. There's been LOTS AND LOTS of corrupted men in every corner of the world, yet when it comes to a powerful woman, all eyes are on her. ENDLESS CYCLE of criticisms are on her. While most controversial men, are only passersby. This proves even more that society is intimidated by powerful women. And we only see one side of her. We don't see her private life .

  19. Well, I'm a dissenting voice as well. When someone is on the wrong side of Tim Gunn, you know they screwed up.

  20. "If you can't be better than your competition, just dress better." Anna Wintour.

Truth. And Azealia must have been cold in the studio. Catchy little ditty.

  21. I am not a follower of fashion, and had no idea who Anna Wintour was until I watched (and then researched) "The Devil Wears Prada" years ago. Funnily enough, I watched TDWP the other night.

    1. So did I! It's one of my favourite films.
I love Anna's bob. If only I could tame mine into a chic little bob, but my hair has an unruly quality.

    2. It is a rather nice bob. Maybe it's the muddy air where you are Scarlet?

  22. I love her.
    I hate her.
    She scares me.
But you gotta give her props for longevity in a business where things change so quickly.

  23. Love Anna Wintour. She keeps people on their toes.

    And that song kills it!

  24. "Shades always, these bitches can't look, no
Bob sleek-chic petite, I fit those
En Vogue, I do what you can't know
I'm runway, you know they a side show
I'm first page, the mainstage as I pose
The one dame, the one name that y'all know
Just take notes, stay on top like halo's.

I'd say she rather nailed Anna Wintour.
