Here we are... one of another of my favorite weeks in November. Here in the States we'll be celebrating Thanksgiving Day this week. Once again, families and chosen families will gather and celebrate the true meaning of the holiday however we see fit. And yes, that may mean excessive food and drink, as in my case, or the sometimes awkward family reunion, for which I don't have, as I have a sane and sensible family for which I'm truly grateful. From the blessings we have all received thus far, loved ones, new opportunities, and good friends, health, and the fact we're still here during these times, it really is something to be thankful for. As for the big day, I have taken over the cooking of the dinner, to take it off my aunt and uncle for another year. Cooking for my aunt is like cooking for her role model Julia Child...so absolutely no pressure people.*biting my nails*. I'm all set with my food shopping done, and just awaiting to pick up our fresh turkey from the farm. Have you your menus already for the day? I'm already getting excited thinking about the preparations, the smells, the taste testing, and the sound of the parades in the background. Am I nuts? Yes, but then so are the best people! I will dress up, but can tell you, I won't look as cute as Ann Miller down there. And I refuse to shave my legs.
Leaves me feeling Fall-ish on this cold blustery day.
ReplyDeleteAs if America needed an excuse to EAT?! Jx
ReplyDeletePS I imagine you'll be gobbling a lot of meat. Again...
It is another day after all for the mistress eating meat. nothing to see here.
DeleteI'm kind of getting into the whole Thanksgiving mood. I'm not ready to get together with tons of people yet, but I may go to a small gathering with family...
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that you have that Silverjow hunk there holding that turkey...
XOXO
I'm not doing anything special for Thursday other than visiting my father. The Dallas Cowboys are hosting my Las Vegas Raiders, and my team will be serving up a few turkeys that afternoon anyway.
ReplyDeleteI might hotwire a tanker truck full of Hendrick's. ;-)
If you do...lets me know the coordinates sweet cheeks.
DeleteRun, turkey, run!
ReplyDeleteI feel so guilty eating one, but they are so tasty.
DeleteWell, I can tell you that, whether you shave your legs or not, you will always be cuter than Ann Miller! (I have always loved that Laurel and Hardy image.)
ReplyDeleteLaurel and Hardy! Have a fab Thanksgiving, Mistress!
ReplyDeleteAnn Miller would take a picture with a corpse! That girl was married to SHOW BIZ! Who is the last lady? Betty Grable? I dunno. Lover Oliver and Laurel - growing up, I watched their films and thought they were married to each other. Oh, and the lady in one of the first photos, with the turkey... I feel like I should know who that is, too. Have a lovely Thanksgiving, darling boy. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteYou know i love me some Ann Miller!!! The lady with the turkey fedding it is the same one as in my header, Una Merkel, and the last one is Barbara Nichols, a minor rival of Marilyn Monroe.
DeleteGood luck on cooking. Do we get to see the outfit (I hope)?
ReplyDeleteWe are sad to miss out on dinner with the BFJ and friends in CT this year, but I'm grateful to be spending the day at home, in relative health, with hubby and dogs. (We will have catered meal to keep things simple this year.)

Im glad your home and doing way better than expected....something to truly be thankful for. I had thought of you when I was just in Ptown.
DeleteWe're celebrating quietly, just myself, the dogs, and the bird.
ReplyDeleteWho knew turkeys were so intresting so close up? I loved this mood board.
ReplyDeleteOh my lands, I haven't seen a picture of Barbara Nichols is ages!!!! So you guessed, I loved seeing the table settings. A very timely appropriate mood board Mistress. I look forward to Thanksgiving as my son and daughter and grandkids will all be here.
ReplyDeleteI know you will be in heaven Agnes! Cheers to you!
DeleteHope you have an entertaining Thanksgiving, Mistress -- I'm sure you can burp turkey with the best of 'em, LOL!
ReplyDeleteHuh, ok...we can go with that end....
DeleteSigh. I wish I was in the good old U.S of A. I love a turkey dinner!
ReplyDeleteAre the table settings yours? The sweet little pumpkin!
I bet Agnes loves it.
How heartwarming to see laurel and Hardy. I watched them for hours as a child. Stan laurel was born in Ulverston. Not far from here. They have a statue of him.
Thanks again and hope all goes well cooking for your family. Happy Thanksgiving!. X

ReplyDeleteDon't you love that picture?
DeleteTrying to make my blog rounds.... We are approaching my least favorite time of year. I hate Winter. I hate Christmas. If I could I'd hibernate from October through March! LOL.
ReplyDeleteMe too! Bah Humbug! Jx
DeleteLet the Festering Season Begin!!! I don't mind the hoildays....its the cold I hate.
DeleteI will curl right up against you! I could easily hibernate.
We're keepin' it simple here. Jerry does the cooking, I do the dishes.
