Since the pandemic, and spending a lot of time alone, it's been yet another adjustment being back around people all the time. While I am social, I need to have my own alone time also, so when I get back on weekends to the Casa du Borghese, I love my time, and this weekend I had no plans, purposely. I always keep a weekend clear of anything except to just do nothing. Yesterday found me up at the lake for my walk/jog. During the pandemic or not, it's the one place...and nature in general that is my place to think, recharge, and take in the natural world. I've never been an indoor person. Not being outdoors for me would be like living without air. And I swear, it the earth's natural way to heal the mind and soothe the soul. Some sights from yesterday...

LAKE SOLITUDE
The wild turkeys are everywhere, even on the roads leading to the lake.
Since being back from Ptown, the foliage is really in full swing and I suspect will be the last of the leaves this week.
After some time gone, within an hour of seed going on the window sill some of the suspects demanded to know where I have been. A few appearances today.
Can you spot Bouvier?
Outside the boudoir window, I caught a great glimpse of vixen with one of her grown up kits. They have been very active at night this visit, screaming at night. I only saw one kit with the mother. I assume the other two have left to carve out their own territories. Is it me or does it look like she is scolding the little one, or giving words of wisdom??? I have missed seeing them.I also made more apple dumplings today. It's been a nice weekend.

I want that recipe looks fab. Beautiful pictures by the way.
ReplyDeleteWelcome Suzanne! I will have to post it when I get a chance!!!
DeleteThanks for stopping in.
Ahhhh, Maddie!!!! Such beautiful images!!!! I too very much appreciate my alone time, celebrating much as you do…enjoying the beauty that surrounds us….a great way to relax and refresh!!! Enjoy the rest of the weekend…and week to come (t-day)!!!!
ReplyDeleteComing from you , I take that as a compliment Luke.
DeleteI had one of those weekends that has not been good. Missing William I suppose, so this has brightened up my evening. It's no nice to see someone that still has a love of nature, as many , I think, don't take the time to get outdoors or even notice what is around them. I'm glad you still get the usual suspects too. I wondered about them it's your gone more now.
ReplyDeleteSending you big, warm, squishy hugs, Ms Agnes.
DeleteOh a double warm hug tonight! You have no idea how your presence made my night too. You have been missed. I was beginning to worry where you went. Sending you a old lady hug.
DeleteYour wise Agnes. I needed a kick in the ass to get out more.
DeleteI love when it get warm and fuzzy up in here.
DeleteWell Mads, I do prefer my fuzzy to be warm up in there. Yep, I came out of my cubby cave too soon!
DeleteYou had me from the opening picture on down. Nice to be so close to the a lake, or do you live on a lake? Such pretty birds too. And variety.
ReplyDeleteExcellent images Mads! You have a good creative eye for many things Ill say that. The fox always fascinate me to no end. But my favorite image is of your feet with chucks on. You love your chucks. Our leaves change here but nothing like in the northeast.
ReplyDeleteI may be obsessed with chucks.
DeleteI can almost hear the silent peacefulness in those pictures. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI was going to say something, but your delectable dumplings distracted me.
ReplyDeletehis dumplings distract many Norma.
DeleteI'm sure you've heard this before, but your dumplings look positively scrumptious.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT is a feast for the eyes. Gorgeous autumn colors. I love oranges and reds and browns, earthy colors. That lake look huge too. That must be a glorious exercise route.
ReplyDeleteIts a huge lake Jacoby. My route takes me on a almost 6 mile jog/walk, the perimeter of the lake.
DeleteI got a very melancholiac mood from this post. And good advice to remind us to enjoy nature, I know I don't get outside enough. But this is just so pretty! Very autumny and beautiful and serene. Loved seeing that hawk and crane?
ReplyDeleteYour preceptive. I do tend to get more docile and melancholiac this time of year.
DeleteI love the 7rd picture of you holding the leaf. Fall leaves are the best. Those foxes blew my mind! I had no idea how pretty they were. Do you fear them at all??
ReplyDeleteNo, Im not afraid of them, though the Vixen with pups have gotten very close to me in the past. But it's good if they keep their natural fear. They shouldn't get used to us, but I do feel happy they let me get close as possible if just for a moment.
DeleteBeautiful pictures, and yes I see Bouvier!
ReplyDeleteAnd you bake? So, how is it you're still single? :) I know the answer... I just love asking the question. Lovely birds. And, as always, your photos evoke such a longing in me. That one of the bench is going in my great pics and you will see it some Saturday on my blog! I wish to sit there... martini in hand. Kizzes.
ReplyDeleteThat's a nice compliment Upton!!! I'm glad to evoke some feeling with a photo. Cheers to you!
DeleteAnd I'm single by choice still. To set in my ways, independent and sex manic. For now. LOL!!!
That sounds like my kind of weekend. Those pictures are so lovely, and the turkeys cracked me up, but I'm thinking they might want to hang low for the week.
ReplyDeleteIsn't fall grand?
Those dumplings look tasty as hell!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos as always, Mistress. Those apple dumplings look dee-lish! Our fall foliage is long gone, I'm afraid. We got 8 inches of snow last week.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up there lambchop....at least till christmas..lmao!!!!!
DeleteLooks like a beautiful day. Plus your apple dumpling is making my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteCoffee is on and stay safe
Those dumplings look fantastic. You have so many talents. That mama looks as if she's doing more than just scolding her child. She looks really pissed off. It's lovely that you can recharge in the natural world.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I love my foxes!!! I have the feeling it was a learning moment
DeleteOh, what a beautiful lakeside. I can see why it's your refuge.
ReplyDeleteWe can never see too many images of autumn. I enjoy the picture of the lake with the double reflection it made. Very calming. What is that one little bird on your sill with the long beak? LoVE THE FOX. I almost think I'd be scared to be near them.
ReplyDeleteThat bird is a Nuthatch! They are so cute and sound as if they are laughing instead of chirping.
DeleteI love fall and usually embrace it, but don't know where it went. Excellent pictures! Nice to be on a lake. I've got my glowing freaky pilgrim people out and plugged in! Other than that, as soon as the garden center delivers my pine garland, then I'll good to go for xmas at least!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely photographs. You have a talent for capturing the essence of nature.
ReplyDeleteI'm far more alive outside, than stuck in side the house.
Dumplings look great. What do you serve them with?
I have you for dumplings if we lived closer dear. I do either sweet cream over the top...or vanilla ice cream.
DeleteSo many beautiful views... and your dumplings! A nice treat for a Monday.
ReplyDeleteIt got cold here today!!!!!
DeleteThe leaves are falling here, too. Since it was so windy, spent a good portion of my Sunday picking up branches from my neighbors’s tree and cutting the grass, probably for the last time this year. The added advantage was it picked up the leaves. But with the high winds, within an hour the yard was scattered with more leaves and branches 🤬
ReplyDeleteGotta love the wind to make more confetti right? It's never ending. My mother's lawn guys mulch the yard leaves then place in out gardens....its great to winterize the garden and acts p.a. compost for the plants.
DeleteI think mother fox has a flea in her ear about something. Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteYep, down time is the best as it's needed to sort the head out.
Sx
Very nice weekend,
ReplyDeleteDo you freeze what you can't get through eating?
ReplyDeleteI assume the blue bird with a mosaic on its back is a jay? Your birdlife is far more exotic than ours.
And that vixen is definitely giving that kit and piece of her mind.
I usually send left over home with everybody...and then save one meal for myself and the Mother. And that about does it for the meal.
DeleteYou are one of the most active, interesting people I know.
ReplyDeleteLove love love these photos too. They feel like the quiet of a foggy morning. Everything is serene, looks peaceful, yet stark. Loved seeing all the wildlife too, your so lucky.
ReplyDeleteWonderful photo log entry.
ReplyDeleteBut inquiring minds want to know did you and Lumbersexual have a, ahem, "catch up"?
Gorgeous photos! The beauty of nature always whispers such peace to my soul too, your not alone.
ReplyDeleteI especially loved the leaf in the water and that meancing looking hawk.
Yes, beautiful pics! We don't have the foliage you get, It bring back good memories to my trip in the US in the autumn.
ReplyDeleteThe wild turkeys henny!!!! I surprised you didn't make a head dress.
ReplyDeleteFabulous pictures! Im thinking it's time for me to come to you for a visit now.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos of the foliage around the lake, and of the birds. And, of course, your dumplings!
