MONDAY....SOMETHING ABOUT DECEMBER

This Monday were taking it down a notch. I'm not much for the modern Christmas songs, never have been. If I have to hear Mariah Carey caterwaul once more, I may go postal. No, give me the old, vintage tunes or the ones with jazz or big band anyday. But over the weekend I heard this song, Something About December, by the lovely Christina Perri. I had no words for the touching beauty of this song. Yours truly never shows a soft side often, but the lyrics were so beautiful, and if did remind me of dear friends and family no longer here, and how the comfort of our memories are all we need. I did get teary eyed a bit, because the song is just so beautiful. The songstress Christina Perri is a talented singer and songwriter from right here in Bucks County! This may be the prettiest thing you see and hear today. Get a tissue too, I warned you.

  1. Oh, I much prefer the old standards when it comes to Christmas... Give me Rosemary Clooney, Andy Williams, Perry Como, and the lot. Instrumental, give me Fresh Aire and my old acquaintance Chip Davis... Now we're talking.
But this one is in that vein, and quite, quite lovely.

  2. I have the eclectic taste in holiday songs. I would be just has happy listening to the oldies as I would Trans-Siberian Orchestra. I'd even get a giggle out of the Cheech & Chong skit involving Christmas and "magic dust"!

  8. Beautiful. Very 1970s actually. I could see myself in bell bottoms with mutton chops sipping a highball beside a flocked tree.
