One of the last queens I had the pleasure to meet before exiting the drag arena, was a queen who did a pop up show here in New Hope...one of those youngins, you know... thin and Gorgeous! One thing with newer queens, they aren't quite as open and friendly as the queens of yore, it's almost like they immediately want you to like and respect them without working for it. But I was very impressed when I met Rocco Roman, at the time a mere 19!! What a great attitude, and friendly soul. And girlfriend, I'm hear to tell you hunty, Miss Roman had the style and beat face perfected. Rocco is from Providence RI and has only been on the drag train for a short time, and take gigs where she can get them. Some clubs can be a pain with the age thing. And even as a struggling artiste, she doesn't let it get her down. She is a struggling make up artist, by all means, and styles hair and wigs on the side. And certifiable in both. Rocco has always had an interest in beauty, and all things glamour, and grew up in a Roman Catholic household with his grandparents. It was there he learned to do make up and wearing those cha cha heels. He then moved out at 18, started doing drag...and often gets his inspiration from Madonna and Marilyn Monroe, but with a more over exaggerated flair, and looking fake as hell. Rocco used drag as a hobby in the beginning, and I can get where he is coming from, and he hopes to make it into a career. He gets pleasure with improving himself and helping others. And Im here to say, he is one adorably cute boy! If I could afforded to buy him and carry him in my man bag, I would totally do it! But his aesthetic is mind-blowing for only doing drag for two years.
OMG!!!!! Instead of a death drop, I did a jaw drop!
ReplyDeleteI could kiss you! I haven't heard that song in YEARS!
Okay, I am totally out of my element, which is water by the way.
ReplyDeleteRocco can really work all different looks!

STUN. NING.!!!!!! The exposed robot face is exceptional.
ReplyDeleteI must admit that song cracks me up! What a blast from the past. I immediately thought of you...if ever there were a real life Patsy!!!! I miss that show. I should re watch my DVDs.
Love the unreal make-up! Great looks. I knew one Rocco and he didn't look anything like that! Great video. I miss AbFab.
ReplyDeleteHaving skills to help one earn a living whilst trying to get gig work is important. Great job with it all.
ReplyDeleteAnd with a name like that he could do drag or porn!
ReplyDeleteFabulous!
ReplyDeleteThose anime eyes give me the creeps; the rest of the looks were fantabulous or fandabidozi for the Krankies lovers
ReplyDeleteDawn French can always be counted on to find the camera. Love the Ab Fab vid. Fun, fun, fun. And, sadly... skinny and old beats fat and old every time. Eeek. (Can I say that out loud?) Gravity may pull it all to the floor baby, but if there's less of it to pull, you stand a fighting chance of getting some. I know if I gave up my gin I could be even thinner than I am... but, hey. A girl needs something to get her to Friday, am I right? Now... I like a few pounds on others. That is never an issue. But for me... I think it's a like Janet Jackson? It's all about CONTROL. Kizzes. P.S. You need never worry. You're gorgeous and will always remain so, dear.
ReplyDeleteI really like her fantasy in makeup and disguise!
