BRILLANT VENDING MACHINE

This vending machine does more than just help our environment. For every plastic bottle put inside for recycling, it dispenses kibble into a bowl to feed the city’s stray dogs.

This amazing vending machine is located in Istanbul where there’s an estimated, sadly, 150,000 stray dogs wandering the streets looking for their next meal. These machines, made by Pugedon, are able to provide food that is completely paid for by the costs of the recycled bottles. It’s a true win-win situation for the environment, the hungry dogs and the residents who love them. In fact,  from the article I read,Instabul’s government wanted to collect these stray dogs and move them to a new environment, but the city’s people wanted no such thing to happen. That’s when Pugedon came up with a solution to keep the dogs in the city and offer a way to make sure they’re healthy. Istanbul residents consider these stray dogs the pets of the entire neighborhood and have welcomed these incredible vending machines to make their lives easier. For more information, read the full story at EarthPorm.com. How great would it be if they came here to the states. It still breaks my heart these dogs don't have a home, but at least they can eat, and the community at large seems to really care for them. Things and ideas like this remind me there a some good and caring people still around.

Buster Bolfig Borghese says he is ready to get the ball rolling to finance this thing.....

  3. I was in Istanbul in last May, and there was a large number of cats and dogs. All of them were treated with notable kindness and respect by the local population I noticed, and all looked well fed and we did not see one aggressive animal. And because of the large number of cats, I also heard their rat and mouse population is way down. What a win win win.

  13. It's an extremely generous and noble idea - but I'm wondering how a few vending machines would ever be able to feed 150,000 stray dogs and cats.
