GRANDE DAME

BarbieQ Coals got her start in drag by entering a talent quest competition at DC’s nightclub in Perth Western Australia. Recently out of a job, the $500 first prize looked very attractive, and being from a performing arts background, BarbieQ Coals simply jumped at the chance. Easily winning the heats and semi finals, she breezed through to the grand final without a hitch taking away the prize pool. Soon after, an invite came to perform at a Thursday night gay venue called TRADE, to which BarbieQ accepted and instantly her drag career began. It wasn’t too long since she was hired by The Court Hotel and Connections Nightclub, both venues that she still works at currently. BarbieQ’s performance style is extremely broad. Training in dance since 13 years of age and using that qualification to travel the globe with cruise ship giant Princess Cruises Pty Ltd, she has been known for her power packed dance performances which have also included a troupe of dancers by her side and has a passion for artists such as Dolly Parton, which she does a mean impersonation of, Kylie Minogue, P!nk and many more. These influences  are reflected in her styling choices which are always glitzy and full of high glamour and genres of performance include: dance, comedy, country and top 40 to name a few. On the side Barbie enjoys rhinestoning, the colour pink, making people laugh and smile and above all having a good time!

  1. Dolly Parton is a fine role model for any queen, but she does have rather large boobs. Can a drag queen pull off the busty look?
