THE SNOW QUEEN

 The Snow Queen-

She stood there dressed in cold white down
as soft winds swirled around her.
Her angelic face smiled
as she surveyed her wonderland.
Her time had come again
as it did once a year
to cleanse the world white,
making it seem bright
under the pale moon.
She surveyed her kingdom
and with the sweep of her hand,
she watched as the snowflakes fell again.
The smile on her face
grew in its proportions
as the winter winds blew their deepest chill,
and then the Snow Queen knew
her season had last arrived.
The kingdom was hers again
before it came the time
when her sisters of spring, summer and autumn
would once more again
take their place on the throne.

Waterfall in New Hope...starting to freeze over as storm started. I knew for sure the Snow Queen was arriving.

And yes to all, it seems the Snow Queen did take my request after all. It's been a huge storm, lots of very high wind and heavy snow. Ending tomorrow.... But I' ve nothing to complain about.

  1. you would make a pretty snow queen, mistress.

I filled my bird feeder yesterday afternoon; my feathered friends have been at it all day so far.

cats are sleeping, spouse and I are doing house chores (i.e., laundry, dishes). spouse brought home chinese takeout last night, so that is today's lunch. and the 18 bottles of wine in house should come in handy! even my snowplow guy has made a first pass on the driveway/walkways. penndot has been plowing all night/day, since I live on a snow emergency route.

you and the houseboyz stay inside and have fun!

    1. The doves always melt my heart...the birds here are getting very photogenic. Earlier, I had 8 doves roosting on the sill, trying to hold on with the winds.

    1. It is indeed a gargoyle from a friend long ago. It is on the sill outside keeping a watchful eye over my boudoir. It has now gotten buried.

  10. A fantastic poem with sesonal snowy imagery. It reminded me a little of 'The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe', although in that, the Snow Queen was pure evil. I prefer your seasonal twist!
