You Should Meet my Son

Have any of you seen this fun movie? I just saw it last night when I had my neighbor over last night for dinner and he decided to bring a flick. I have never seen it before but was it ever entertaining. Now mind ya, I have always been out and about since I was....well, born. When the doctor slapped my back side I said again! And I was told fingers, and long baby bottles kept me quite for hours, and I was always trying to get the banana lose from a stuffed monkey I had! But had I not been always out of the closet, the mother in this movie would soooooo have been my mother along with my aunt, trying to fix me up!

  3. Is it just me, even though they go overboard, or would it be extremely nice to have a family member or two like that who would want to go out and find you a partner JUST so you'll be happy? And the mother's ending line in the clip moved me, and how true!!!

  5. I have never heard of this movie but now I want to see it. "If you think that this world won't give you the things you want, love, kids, a family. Then I'm gona half to change the world, because I will not ever change you." that line made me tear up.

  7. This has to be one of the best Gay-themed film I've seen in a long time. Really LOL - Funny. The leads are fantastic. The two sisters are brilliant. The neighbours son, excellent. The men she brings home - hot!

Can't say enough good things about this film. So positive. Fun and really worth a watch.

  11. Ursula and Tim- Yes, I have been out since Jeebus was a child!!! I have been out for such a longtime that I really don't know much else of being in the closet. I always knew I was gay, even early on, so to me gay in normal. I have been very, no extremely lucky to have had a very excepting family. Everyone knew but I Dad, who was the Archie Bunker of the family-no joke. I think he may have known in his own way, but he knew he was out numbered in the family, so he never really went there!!! And yes Tim I was out in middle and high school and had the best bunch of friends, but then where I went to school was sort of 90210ish so in hign school it was the "cool" thing to have a gay kid in your group. So I count my blessing everyday to be so lucky for the friends and family I have!

Cali- boi- yes, that does make for of us to have that in commom, and yes I do have the best mother- ever!!!!

Calliope- that line got me too! I had to tell my neighbor the old gin went down the wrong pipe!!!!

  15. Brilliant movie! I saw it and I laughed all the way thru it! This film may have had a low budget but the cast is AMAZING!!! Every single cast member is memorable & does a superb job, making it a film you don't want to see end.

  16. The movie looks more like a melodramatic,( but us drag queens like melodramtic), and over-acted play, but that can definitely have a special charm in it's own right. The characters look very likable and it has one of the best lines I've ever heard in a movie, thanks for sharing the trailer

  17. This movie looks hilarious. I only wish my mother would have been that determined for me to be happy. Ah well. I actually would love to know how/if you think this fits into gay movie sterotypes.

  19. Tamayn- I did really enjoy the movie, but yes certain parts were very sterotypical, like the club scenes. Not all gay clubs are like what they showed us in the movie, and not all drag quieen want to make over all straight women. But I did like how they had the main charcter written. They could have had him so much more gay acting, but didn't. All he wanted was to just meet someone and be happy. But yes alot of parts were blown out of gay propotions.
