POWER TO THE PEOPLE

Another pretty, if not cooler weekend, but that didn't stop I and some others in attending our own local Hands Off Protest in downtown Harrisburg yesterday. On Saturday in towns and cities in all 50 states, protesters took to the streets to express their opposition to our Great Dump, Elonia Musk and the never-ending transgressions of the awful second term of the great buffoon and his administration- as well as to show support for our neighbors that are federal workers, immigrants, the LGBTQ and numerous other groups and causes now being targeted by the government. The hands off protest were now the largest act of defiance yet against the Dump and comes after a particularly tumultuous week in which the great ass single-handedly destabilized the US economy. This was the second such protest I attended in Harrisburg and the event had almost tripled in size since the last one. The crowd was in front of the grand capitol building, and poured out onto Third street, making police shut down third street, while a march of people also encircled the whole of the capital complex and state museum. While myself and several of the clan protested here, our New York clan gang was doing the same in NYC. Now is not the time to sit and squander, but to get involved, show our discontent. It was great being able to visibly show our discontent orderly, while being with like-minded people to experience the caring, the anger, and the "Power to the People" which was being chanted over and over. And all protest groups were present... pro-Palestine, immigrant support groups, woman and abortion groups, LGBTQ, BLM, and a few Mexican groups All joined as one. It was amazing. And these groups and protest must grow, and we must be present.

My own sign.

It was a great day and felt good. Afterwards we all want to happy hour, with some new friends and then had a delicious dinner at Dodge City.

  4. Love the No One Elected Musk sign. What a nice turn out and good on you getting out. These protest can change things and nice to be a part of it. The next one here is in Wilmington. I may be in my 80's but I told my daughter I'm GOING! Your right time to get out. I'm not an invalid for petes sake, and I don't like what I'm seeing.

I was in Daley Plaza in Chicago myself yesterday. All three streets that border the Plaza were wall to wall with overflow, traffic was rerouted blocks away in all directions for the duration.

I've been reading you for some time, love your blog...felt I needed to comment.

  7. Excellent day for you! A month ago, I attended a protest in my state’s capital with about 75 other people. Yesterday, I attended one in a nearby city that is a little smaller and the estimated crowd size was two thousand. Americans may be slow to move, but we are getting there. Now if we could all wake up.

We wouldn't be going through any of this, if Merrick Garland had done his job, Trump would be in an El Salvador prison.

We had a great turnout on the National Mall in DC, people can’t wait for the mid-terms in 2026. Repubs are in for a shellacking.

    1. You can't??? It's why I have a hard time living back in Harrisburg. The southeast is very liberal...even the republicans in Bucks County where I lived the last 25 years. It used to drive the rest of the state's republicans crazy...they'd say the southeastern republicans weren't real republicans since they sided with the state democrats many times. It seems the state swings from red and back to blue every other election. Yet, we almost always have a democrat governor. Figure that one out?

In its political colors Pennsylvania is shaped like the letter T, with the south west and Pittsburgh and the south east and Philly areas blue, and the rest of the state red.
We’re a zig zag state, in the days of old even some of the wealthy “Philadelphia Gentlemen” were on the progressive side.
      An old and proud Philadelphian.

  17. My peeps and sista, and 10 and 12-year-old nieces, and I joined the Philadelphia Hands-Off march. There were easily 9,000 people marching to the Liberty Bell, if not much more. It's good for the world to see were not all bumps on a log. You have to love the optics that are being seen worldwide. And good to get together and know the strength we have. They haven't even gutted Medicaid yet. The numbers are only going to grow. Love you post too Mistress.

I should have sold T shirts that said" I voted for Kamala and all I got was this lousy cardboard sign"

No one cares liberals-you have zero power.

    1. Sorry you feel that way. I don't know why your kind doesn't like protest. At least we do it peacefully. And also, these grassroots protests that you're scoffing at ultimately expedited the end terrible things and times. The rage we see in these protests isn’t based on policy disagreements or even apprehension over what will happen with tariffs, etc, psychologically it’s based on hurt egos over their ideology and party being rejected in November because the US kicked their asses to the curb. Maybe a lot of them feel the Democrats were entitled to stay in power.

    3. RIGHT...!! OK
Not rounding up innocent people up in the middle of the night or ones that are here legally, Deporting legal immigrants with American families. Cutting the throat of research and health care. Tanking the stock market and OUR IRAs, AND 401s. If you don't see the havoc he wrecked already your blind. Stock market plunged the biggest number since the pandemic, and what a surprise.... a disease that was almost completely wiped out is now rampant again-Mealses, because he has a bumbling idiot running the Dept of Health. Everything trump touches, weathers on the vine.....

The last time the conservatives did this they were kicked out of power for 60 years. They never learn...

Another Trump troll in a snit.
There is rage because they are more aware of the damaging impacts of this administration and its regime mentality on this country than you and others of your ilk who keep their heads in the sand or worse in their ass.

  19. I went to the one in Glendale, CA. They had a good turnout. in two years, there will be very few MAGA's in our house and senate. The people will speak and shut out Trump and he will be impeached along with Vance. This is the worse situation I have ever seen with the executive branch and read about in our country's history since 1976. When Trump is impeached, I hope he will be forced to personally pay for his travel for his golfing. As a ex-service member it's appalling how he treats veterans.

  23. I was so disappointed in our city of 2M+. Two protests and a total of about 1600. Our uber conservative newspaper gave it one small article on Pg 4; broadcast news gave it a 15-second soundbite.

    1. Many conservative media outlets wrote the protest off to just bitter angry Democrats because we lost the election. Well partially true....but we have our own to thank since they didn't vote. But I respect the people's vote and when they speak whether or not I like the candidate. That how democracy works. Sorry to hear of the event didn't do well.
