BUENOS AIRES.... STIFFENER ANYONE?

If your anything like me, a creature of the night, then you'll love this town. We were out most nights carrying on and what can I say, the Mistress upheld my soiled reputation. Buenos Aires is like a good man: charming and wild, sexy and moody, old fashioned and trendy, lovable, passionate and never dull. Buenos Aires, has become one of the most attractive gay destinations in South America. The night life also brought about giving me the chance to finally meet a longtime reader Adrino. Oh girls.....he was too many things!!! Adrino is actually from Brazil, but we had been emailing for some time and he even flew from Brazil to spend a two days to show us around, which was extremely cool and way beyond being a great host. And I'll leave that there!!!! I will say the mens are very touchy feely, and who I'm too complain?!?!?
The gay scene in Buenos Aires is concentrated in the areas of Palermo, Recoleta and San Telmo. Here you will find my favorite place.... old fashioned gay disco's, and did we ever dance, hip gay cocktail bars, go-go boy bars, and moody cruise bars. We tried them all to say we did. Don't expect massive crowds early in the evening though. The people of BA have dinner late at evening, like 9 or 10 pm, and the bars do not fill before midnight. Most gay clubs open after 1 am, and will become busy only early mornings, but then the heat is on! Since I like to support local artiste' Adrino took us to two different bars where I was in my gloryhole. Some go-go bars even had dancefloors, mazes of tunnels, and private rooms so you could "talk" to the artiste' or other partons up close and personal. I always carry knee pads, so don't worry, safety first with me.
Make it rain I say!!!!!! Yippppeeeee!
Now where was I?

Oh yeah nightlife. Just because I was away didn't mean I gave up my gin, it's hard to keep a good bitch down, although I did enjoy many other libations as well. Adrino was telling us that Buenos Aires’ nightlife is getting even more unique with the emergence of secret speakeasies popping up around the city. The city has always been famous for its classic wine bars, exclusive cocktail bars and pubs serving artisanal beers but this new breed of speakeasy bars are quickly sprucing up the bar scene. Two of my favorites?
This is Franks. And here's the story. Even if you find the small sign on the door that says “Frank’s”, you still face two tests to enter the bar apparently. Each week a new password is released via a series of clues which they put on their Facebook Page, which thankfully MM#1 Fan is on. After figuring out the password and saying it to the doorman, he’ll give you a numerical code before you enter a smaller room where at the other end is a phone booth. Once you’ve entered the secret code in the phone booth the back panel will swing open to reveal an understated yet sophisticated bar. It was all very James Bondish, and I felt like one of the evil villainess. Although the cocktails are expensive in comparison to the other speakeasy bars in Buenos Aires, they are extremely well made by the talented bartenders and it is all part of the experience. It was quite fun, friendly people and our bartender, Leandro was a real sweetheart.

A gin and juice with infusion of rosemary....

We hit many great bars, but the other favorite of mine was Floreria Atlantico.
Why? A flower shop by day and a speakeasy by night!!!! A win win for me, as I adore both! This unique bar in the classic neighborhood of Recoleta opens up one of its doors at dusk that leads down into the basement. Floreria Atlantico is an award-winning bar with a special cocktail list categorized by the different countries that the wave of immigrants arrived from and settled in Argentina in the 1900s.
As well as offering classic and traditional drinks on the menu, I highly recommend accompanying them with some equally mouth-watering appetizers and small platters form the authentic grill. The place was rustic and gorgeous and very unique with the bartenders there being very personable and comical.
My gin and tonic here arrived in a glass shaker infused with rose petals!!!!
And how do you not LOVE the restroom???
Needless to say, most nights we slept like babies after our night of debaucheries. Hell I didn't feel anything back in the room. A huge thank-you to the adorable Adrino. Thanks honey for showing us around, We had a blast, and sure was nice meeting you after all these years. You certainly don't disappoint!!!

Up next....an old cemetery.

  13. Very cool and sexy post! Friends of mine went years ago and they said Buenos Aires has a thriving gay and lesbian scene that's the most impressive, and unlike here, they still keep their gay bars pretty exclusively gay/lesbian compared to here. The guys certainly look buff, woof*
