ONCE UPON A AUTUMN DAY

Even thought I have a hour long drive to work each day, I can't complain, as there is no traffic, and most of my drive is all very rural, and who could complain with scenery like this? Autumn has just about sung it's tune here. Over the last week or two I captured some snaps of my excursion to and from work......

Once Upon a Autumn- Joseph T. Renaldi
Once Upon an autumn day,
Colorful leaves began to fade
In the midst of a chilly, frosty air
As multitude of trees grew steadily bare.

Once upon an autumn day,
The whispering breeze was here to stay
Moving aimlessly through the countless trees
Scattering leaves with the greatest of ease.

Once upon an autumn day,
The leaves whirled freely in every way,
Until at last they came to rest
Finding a haven in which to nest.

Once upon an autumn day,
The trees were dormant, and the leaves lay
Waiting for the winter snow to fall
To quickly obscure them one and all

This week, most of the trees are all empty now. Just last week the tree below, which is outside my windows was full.........

But inside, it cast the most magnificent hue across the whole living room!
Bonnie and Clyde are still here every day.......

The Nut Hatches and my finch are still feeding also, among tons of others....
Of course , it also meant I whipped out the big bird for the next holiday....
Soon it will be so long Autumn.....and then my hibernation will begin. I am ready to be a hermit and start cocooning.........

  4. Renaldi - - Pennsylvania writer and artist.. Lovely poem.

And wonderful photos, all of which put me in a warm autumnal mood.

    1. I wondered if anyone would pick up on the note of the poem. You get five bonus points! Yes, the tree is stunning. Believe it or not Hurricane Sandy claimed half the tree, I worried she may have to come down, but it rebounded beautifully. I feels like a live in a tree house.

  5. I swear that Bucks County is by far the prettiest area in the greater Philadelphia area. The beauty is unparalleled. And do all gay men have such a stunning place?!?!

    1. The iron bridge is that in New Hope that connects it with Lambertville and crosses the Delaware River. Beautiful vistas this year of year.

  9. Beautiful pictures. I think we're skipping Fall where I live. Daytime temps are in the 70s, and the leaves are still green. The nights are just above freezing, though!

    1. It is indeed. It's called Fonthill and was the home of American archeologist and tile maker Henry Chapman Mercer, in Doylestown. Built between 1908 and 1912, it is an early example of poured-in-place concrete and features 44 rooms, over 200 windows, 18 fireplaces and 10 bathrooms. It's one of our crown jewels here.
