I must make apologies for not being around and visiting everybody yet. Between work, running at the lake, vacationing, and it being summer, I have the attention span about the size of a flea. I hate being indoors in the spring and summer, and could just happily live outdoors. But what a wild ride my trip to Amsterdam was!!!!!! Never been before and LOVED IT!!!! My kind of town indeed. The whole lifestyle there is more my speed and they enjoy life so much more. Good food and drink, the people beyond friendly, so much culture and beauty, and I was mistaken for a Dutch citizen by site, since my fathers side of the family hails from Holland. I can't even put into words how beautiful it was. I will have to do several post, there is just to much to share for one!!!! And who ever said in the comments when I left, this was like a pilgrimage for me- was right!!!!!
The Hotel-
Mistress Maddie #1 Fan and I arrived in Amsterdam and had transport to our hotel, and I was beyond very pleasantly surprised. During the Amsterdam trip, we had the privilege of staying at The Toren,a boutique hotel in the town centre. It is named after the owner Eric Toren, who runs the hotel with his wife, Petra. This family-run hotel allows for unique luxury travel — a welcome change from the increasingly unpersonalised tourism industry. Upon entry, the Torens’ imaginative touches are immediately evident on the richly decorated interiors, decadent velvet walls and elegant furnishings. Their attention to detail in design is impressive — intimate yet spacious, luxurious yet tasteful. Mrs Toren remarked that the design is inspired by “what our guests want and our desire to convey Amsterdam’s sense of theatre, mystery and romance… so guests may be pampered in a different world.” As inviting and trendy as Amsterdam itself, The Toren is indeed, ‘designed to charm.’
The service is equally immaculate — Mr Toren personally oversees the list of incoming guests. When we arrived to our room, we were greeted by a bowl of chocolate and fresh strawberries, with a personal letter of welcome. The room came with double Jacuzzi for our double bubble baths!!!!!, a powerful shower, wifi, iPod dock, and a Nespresso machine.
Visitors be warned: it may be incredibly hard to leave your room and actually see the city! I hated to leave this beautiful hotel.
Most mornings......
Loved the way this mantle was treated.....
the bar.....
the tea room
I would swear, this place was decorated for your Mistress.
The Canals-
Undoubtedly, the canals and the bridges that cross them are breathtakingly beautiful and you'll want to snap tons of pictures, I only took like 68!!! As you walk along beside them, however, Amsterdam residents will tell you that the canals are much more than just a pretty sight. Our tour guide told us that the canals are an easy way to travel around the city. A municipal canal-bus system travels three different routes throughout the city, allowing locals an easy way to get to and from work and giving visitors the opportunity to travel from one attraction to the other on the water. The canals are also a thriving part of the tourist infrastructure of Amsterdam in that many locals operate tour boat businesses on the canals. It was one of my favorite things to see while there, from what I remember!!!
The whole city really sparkles at night....
The flowers-
If you know me you'll know I LOVE me some flowers and Amsterdam being the flower market of the world, well, I was ready to move like yesterday. These were just two of the "small" shops.... and couldn't believe how cheap they were.
Café vs Coffee House
It seemed every corner, street, canal, nook and cranny had something to offer your taste buds and senses. The food was incredible, but lets be honest, this was totally Patsy and Edina on this trip. The Cafes they have are to us coffeehouses, with your usual fare. The Coffee Houses were where one goes for the good stuff, and I ain't talking pastry!!!!!
At the legendary Grasshopper, on our first full day, I decided to go with the pre rolled, who wants to be bothered with rolling when one has had already 6 gin and tonics! I chose the Blue Berry which packed quite a punch. Later I was passed out for the next 15 hours. But I digress.
A couple days later I tried something more mild, which was better. One our second night we met a lovely gay couple out, and they invited us to a house party one night. They adopted us the rest of the trip, and they took us to this place below. It was much more my speed. With beverages too!!!!!!!
The Red Light District-
From brothels, to sex shops and sex museums, the Red Light District leaves nothing to the imagination. It most likely is where you'll see men and women in the windows of all nationalities selling their wares!!!!! We even saw nameless acts in bushes and a few side streets, but over the years a crack down has tamed the area just a bit. While in some dance clubs we went to, and just walking in sex shops and the street, the Mistress was propositioned 14 times to see if I wanted my cock sucked!!!!! I won't lie, with my insatiable side, I was no angel! Hell, if you want dirt, MM#1 and I engaged in a Menage a trois, plus one- twice!!!!!!!!!! I said that cute couple adopted us!!!!!!! I must say, the Dutch men are ever so handsome!!!! And they seemed to like my Dutch asset too!!!!! We also saw some very friendly go-go boys in another bar. I never saw so many verticals lines in front of my face before!!!!!!!!
One of the nightclubs we went too......
I love to dance to really good club music, so it was a blast hearing decent underground music and not remixed top 40 crap!!! Most nightclubs were packed, and most with a very strict dress code, but at the above, I think I may have even danced in just sport briefs there, but who can recall???? The next morning me and MM#1 Fan ended up in our room on top of each other naked. Again.....who knows? But some how, some where I had a ring on, and I didn't buy it and don't own one, then.
Other sites-
A site we saw more than once was the Heineken Beer Cart, which gets delivered by two HUGE Clydesdale horses to various bars. Shame it wasn't gin. but how cool to see.
This made me chuckle, and grasp a donut to sit on......For the size queen in me. You know I like them big and hard as marble.........
Now stayed tuned y'all there is more to come of this trip, I figured we would get the dirt out first. Now excuse me while I go check the pregnancy test...........
I've been waiting patiently for a recap of your trip... it was well worth the wait. What stunning pics... looks like a trip of a lifetime. Can't wait to see the rest.
