Grande Dame marks the 1000th Post!

This week's Grande Dame is the ever fabulous Lady Bunny, and not only that, but the other day I noticed it has been since 2008 since I started blogging, and I just realized this is also my 1002nd post! That's alot of queens, men, mistress drunken moments, gin and tonic's and some cultural moments thrown in. So I thought it only befitting that the fabulous LADY BUNNY, who is my favorite drag queen of all time and my very first Grande Dame of the Week should have the honor of this post! And there have been about 183 queens featured here! The only thing more recognizable than Lady Bunny’s southern raspy voice and boisterous laugh is probably her enormous hair, which is often blond. This year, the drag icon worked it as a judge on RuPaul’s Drag U and sent the blogosphere in a tizzy over her raunchy YouTube parody of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls.” Just another reason I love her so! Lady Bunny is originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, and has lived in New York since the 1980s. She is the founder of the annual Wigstock event that used to be held every Labor Day, and is well-known as a nightclub DJ, promoter and celebrity. She has also released disco singles such as "Shame, Shame, Shame!" and "The Pussycat Song." She has appeared in films and television as well as travel the globe performing everywhere. Her style of drag performance usually involves lip-synching to a compilation of karaoke versions of popular songs over which she has recorded her own vocals singing parodies of the original lyrics. The new lyrics are usually sexually explicit. And like the Mistress she enjoys alot of good stiffeners! I have seen and met her several times, but I have no clue what we discussed as we were probably both dronk!
