SEEN IN BUDAPEST

I just finished a week ago going through photos and saving or deleting pictures from the Budapest trip. Not a day goes by still that a memory doesn't come back from the trip. Another one in the books. It had been way to long for international travel in my book, and while it might sound cold, I have seen what I want of the US, only about maybe 21 states. Some I could not care if I ever step foot in. And I'm happy to report that I talked with Warbucks yesterday, and we have finalized the details and booked the next adventure, while MM#1 F and I are still trying to pinpoint a Nairobi trip. In the meantime, here are some random snaps from Budapest. Again, I was very pleasantly surprised by how much there was to see and do and never expected to love the city as much as I did. Or could it be I'm just in love with Europe?

The opening photo was interesting...called Gellert Hill and overlooks the Danube. The hill was named after enraged pagans overtook Saint Gerard and threw him over the hill to his death. The famous Hotel Gellert, Gellert Baths, and the Cave Church are all located at the foot of the hill. The church is very cool, as it is mostly carved into the side of the hill and the whole interior is in the mountain.
Famous fog at the Chain Bridge

Some of the Hungarian Queens from the show we caught. Incredible show.

    1. I've been told by many, I'm better suited to European life over life here in the US. And drag is a very tricky thing in Budapest...loved by not as accepted as here.

I loved Kenya as much as I loved Budapest but for very different reasons. I have also seen a lot of the usa but will never go there again. I quit going after coming through Porto Rico with my dog. They not only swabbed my dog for drugs but they photographed my husband and I. We were only transiting on our way home to Canada. We thought they could make better use of their time. GG

    1. Oh dear about the traveling through. I have been trying to get to Keyna for some time. I would love to hear about any quick feedback you'd have. The nature and giraffe and elephants is what drive me to go, and quite frankly could end up living there to volunteer at an elephant sanctuary once retired. But that a long way off.

    2. I wouldn't.

In Kenya, they are proposing a new bill to make homosexuality totally illegal, punishable by 10 years in prison. Jx

Once they get rid of their fascist homophobic dictator Orban, of course. Jx

  7. Where do I sign up!!!! I have been wanting to go for some time. And I agree with Jon above...but that being said at the rate the world is going backwards, if I wait for these leaders to leave office or get knocked out and replaced with someone even worst, I may never see half the places I want.

    1. I agree. At the rate these countries are all getting more conservative backwards, if I wait much longer I won't be able to see anywhere.

  8. Yep, It's time to start traveling abroad again. I love these pictures. All these posts have been inspiring. I have time off and was thinking another trip to Budapest could be nice and affordable.

  9. Great pictures, but that building inside that mountain kind of freaks me out. They must not have earthquakes out there.

    1. When I get around to it I'll probably do a post on the interior. I went in, and while I'm not claustrophobic, I'm not fond of being in Caverns caves or the sort.

  10. I'm a fan of buildings in mountains - I say use what you've got! I also like caves.
I look forward to your next adventure!

    1. They're supposed to be some church in Italy that's built into the side of a mountain real high up somewhere. Looks very intriguing, no I'm not fond of being in caves or Caverns

  12. Hungary is definitely not among my places to visit. Not because I hate it but just because I'll never have the time and money to visit it. Unless I get paid to travel Europe and document it. If I was going to visit anywhere in Europe I probably do the British Isles France and Spain

    1. That was one reason why I went to do to pass because of all the cities you mentioned Budapest was the most affordable. I was very surprised by how inexpensive it was.

  13. I think I may have mentioned how pissed-off I was (in the 60s) when Eastern Europe was still under Russian domination so I couldn't easily travel there. And now? I'm at the arse-end of the world and really done with long-haul flights.But... I have a cunning plan. I know one or two chaps who would be more than happy to , if not drag me along (no, not that sort of drag, darling!), at least come back with millions of photos and stories.

    1. I again was highly shocked by how pretty and amazing the city was, and affordability. I came back with more funds than I thought I would. I like to visiting but I don't know I'd want to live there.

  16. Beautiful pictures again one and all. I think your travel pictures or what ultimately led me to your blog. Of all the pictures though I think the Swan and that deer were my favorite. Was that in some kind of pork or Zoo?

    1. It was actually a Park that had a zoo in it.
