SPRING...

...has sprung in Central Park. Last week peaks of spring started all over, when we were back up last week one day for work again. While summer is my favorite temperature, spring is one of the prettiest seasons with all life starting over again...and all the stunning color that comes with it.

Spring- Christina Rossetti
There is no time like Spring,
When life’s alive in everything,
Before new nestlings sing,
Before cleft swallows speed their journey back
Along the trackless track –
God guides their wing,
He spreads their table that they nothing lack, –
Before the daisy grows a common flower
Before the sun has power
To scorch the world up in his noontide hour.
There is no time like Spring,
Like Spring that passes by;
There is no life like Spring-life born to die, –
Piercing the sod,
Clothing the uncouth clod,
Hatched in the nest,
Fledged on the windy bough,
Strong on the wing:
There is no time like Spring that passes by,
Now newly born, and now
Hastening to die.
Then there was this little one....
I do believe he wanted my macadamias!!!! Brave and tame little soul. I gave him some almonds I had in my messenger for snacking.
It I didn't, I'd be in bad standing with my Bouvier. And we know squirrels plan to take over the world...I want to be in good standing with them when they do.

  1. A poignant poem. Lovely photos.
It's good to see the same spring on both sides of the pond.
Squirrels are public enemy number one here. They dig my bulbs up and steal all the bird food........

    1. Snap. They are just rats in fur coats. I hate them - they eat birds' eggs and young, as well as digging up every pot they can get their razor-sharp claws into. Those that aren't being dug up by the equally destructive foxes, of course. Jx

    2. I best get over there and train these creatures. Squirrels here can be like that, but the two that occupy my big oak out the window here, don't disturb things. If anything, they planted many trees with there burying of acorns. The fox here don't disturb anything, except scaring the living shit out of you in the middle of the night with their screams.

  3. I LOVE SPRING!!!! I'm solar powered, you know. Not my house, ME! The neighbor's fruit tree is blooming right now. It looks so bright and gay, and one long flower covered branch is hanging low into my yard. These relatively new neighbors just let the fruit rot, so this year that branch over hanging into my yard is MINE! Bella will help me fight off the squirrels. She hates those cute little f...uh, suckers. From where I sit, the squirrels will have to fight off the cats for world domination. The cats will probably win by a claw.
I've said it before and I'll continue to say it, I love your nature pix.

    1. Thank you Duchess Deedles! I am enjoying taking pictures and with Instagram I can play around with filters to give the pictures a different look if I want. I take way to may pictures and am never without my camera or phone to snap away.

    2. You know, Maddie, you've got too much talent in that little body of yours! I've come back to look at the pretties to cheer me up. Just a bit of a gloom and doom day. GLOOOOOOOM and DOOOOOOOM!!! Anyhoo, the flowers and that little cutie of a squirrel perk me right up.

  6. I agree with Deedles...what a beautiful spring post. I too love this time of year as the earth comes to life once again. I too want to be on the squirrel's side. They are maniacal...I won't trifle with them.

  8. What joyful and beautiful photos! I love spring - - and the squirrel is adorable!!!

We had a big freeze last night, which destroyed many of the blossoms.

I was in New York a few years back and Central Park was in full bloom. I wanted to pinch a tent and just live there.

  10. Rats in fur coats? Jealous much? ;-)

Lovely little critters. And, it was very kind of you to share with that little guy. You have a kind soul - they will surely recognize that when they take over!
