SPRING AT THE ABODE

It’s Easter weekend this weekend, and I’ve been busy with final preparations of packing for a four day weekend away. While I won't be at the Casa for Easter you know I do like certain holidays to add touches to the Casa. I think people wonder why I do this, since many don't decorate anymore. I think I do it for several reasons. It is fun to change the décor around, and it gives a reference to the time of year. It always keeps the home fresh from not getting bored by it. One of the things I like to do in spring and for Easter, is add pretty plants and cut flowers to my home’s décor.  Fresh cut flowers bring life to every room, and also make one more happy when indoors I believe. I also include some of what were my grandmothers old Easter decorations. You know I get sentimental. Here's what spring currently looks like in my bijoux apartment.
My side table is adored with white cherry branches and a real birds nest that I found years ago. I have several real nest, and love to decorate with them. A sign of renewal and birth for spring.

Some tulips and ranunculus, my favorite flower of all.
Are there any flowers more happy then daffodils??? We have tons of them around the Casa.
In the kitchen the bar is fully stocked and we find some curly pussy willow in the urn.
The apothecary's are all filled with nest and eggs of all kinds. The beaded eggs are very old vintage ones that were a gift from the Dame. I hung a few on some white witch hazel branches
The rabbit and chick were my grandmothers and always remind me of Easter mornings in my wee years. I stuck the rabbit in another little nest.
How about these word cue cards on the fridge. Of course the Lads mind always head dirty!!! A vintage shop find.
My boudoir is my haven away from the world, and I could just as easily hibernate there all winter. I do believe I could be a professional lounger. Sometimes I think it is too comfy!!! One will see my trademark peacock feathers...a sign of Hera. I'll have you know all the eyes watch over everything.

Another mixture of Daffodils  on the night table.
My one last lone orchid still blooming.
Sunday, I made another batch of Hot Crossed buns before the jig is up.

Not Hot Crossed Buns.
Just wanted to see if you were paying attention.

Now ...how about a glass of wine for the evening?
Do you decorate for Easter or bring fresh flowers in the house for spring?

  11. What lovely decorations you have collected over the years! You have done a beautiful job in decorating and arranging your home as usual. I too love fresh flowers in the house...I agree with your statement about them.

  12. Thanks for sharing your beautiful Easter decorations and spring touches..... I'm always curious what you'll do for the season. They are all very nice and I like the pussy willows above that bar too. I wish we had some of those where I live. My one pleasure is to have fresh flowers in the house year round. Iy definitely does something for the soul. I also think it's wonderful you keep and honor past memories from years past. That little rabbit and chick are so cute. I seem to remember those rabbit's and similar chicks from years ago. A German company if I recall?? We celebrate Passover, but I do put a few things out for Easter for when the grandchildren come over. They would find your jars magical.

    1. Your correct Agnes. Those peeps and rabbits are from a company called Lefton. The rabbits are harder to find.

  13. leave it to you to bridge together your beautiful home and that lush ass in a jockstrap!!!! Daddy wants to smack it.

I love the dish your other buns are in! My grandmother use to have many like it or something like this that I admired as a young child. And that is a STOCKED bar.

  14. Aaaah, mistress. You home is so gorgeous. I could just move right in and not change a thing. I love fresh flowers and always try to have at least one bunch in the house.
I especially like the way you incorporate your family heirlooms. The rabbit is wonderful.
Can I ask, politely, where do you get your energy from?
You go out to work and your home is impeccable!
I am a stay home housewife and my home is clean and tidy but it takes me all day. I wouldn't have the energy for housework and paid work.
Maybe you have some little helpers? 😉

    1. Thank you Christina! My trick is I do a bit of housework each night, so my weekends are free. Plus it's just me most of the time, so no mess.

  16. The NOT Hot Cross Buns are super lovely. I missed, however, seeing which houseboys will be watching over the Casa in your absence. :-)

  18. We don't decorate for Easter. Stopped regularly having fresh flowers thanks to the cats, who just love to get up on the tables and sniff (i.e., knock over) the water-filled vases. Your home of course is a work of art, as are the hot cross buns — and the uncrossed ones. Daffodils! I love them. We had thousands of them on our property in Connecticut. Spring awakening was incredible. My sister used to pick them up for my mother at a flower vendor outside the subway on her way home from work. Always sweet memories.

  19. Beautiful post! I wish I had the energy to do this. Is there any flower that makes people more happy then a daffodil

  20. How wonderfully creative and absolutely beautiful! I love all of the photos!!!

  21. You did an outstanding job decorating the place. I don't decorate for Easter. In fact, I don't even buy the candy on sale the following day half price anymore. I know this year I can't look at Peeps without thinking about someone putting them on a pizza.

  22. I love those cue cards! And you are so right about the fresh flowers. I had daffs the other week, but they didn't last long - I'm looking forward to summer when I'm going to treat myself to sunflowers.
    Happy Easter, Sweetie!!!
