SHE HAD ME BUMPIN' & JUMPIN'

If you were  a young gayling like myself in the mid to late 90's you were quite aware of the club and dance legend Kim English. She had the Mistress werked up to a frenzy quite a few times on the dance floor in a sea of men. I LOVE TO DANCE....and Bumpin and Jumpin always had me tearing and parting that dance floor to do runways and such, and Unspeakable Joy was always a favorite drag routine song for a while with me. Sadly, Kim English passed away today. While she started out as a gospel singer and remained one, she also performed church for the gay community...getting us up and shakin dat ass....and her live performances were always memorable. She and her songs always bring back such good, fun, debauched filled moments. Now she's off to the big Cha- Cha Palace in the sky!!! Thanks Kim for making this queens life more fun and giving me fond memoires. I think tonight  calls for a few stiff ones, and some of my favorite ditties from the dance queen......

  5. Okay, I never heard of her (big surprise, huh?) so I googled her. I still don't know who she was but it is very sad when one so young dies. I also had to look up house music and clubbing. As I sink further into the depths of old lady fogiedom, and try to find adult diapers in my size I bid you all good night.

    2. I too have never heard of Miss English. One of the joys of reading blogs is learning new things and singers.

    3. Maddie, honey, I got a headache just from trying to listen to this music! I'm really not boring. My tastes just run in a different direction from, oh I don't know, exciting people. Okay, people in general.

  6. WOW! I LOVED her songs. When I came out I was very, no, extremely shy. Took me months to get up the will to go to a gay bar. And when I did, I just stood like a bump on a log for months, except to get a drink or two. When one night Unspeakable Joy came on, and I knew I just had to dance to it. I loved it on the radio station. I danced my ass off, probably not well, but for me it was cutting loose, and that song brought me out of my shell and never looked back. I'm sorry to hear she passed. Great memories of her songs.

  7. I heard her songs back in the day but not recently. So sorry to hear she passed on. Her music, while I didn't know the songs by name, were great. Even when I was busy listening to rock and roll, I knew who Kim English was.

I first heard her song in 95 when I snuck into clubs very young...when I first started to get into DJing. A club legend for sure.
