ELLA-GANZA- BEWITCHED, BOTHERED AND BEWILDERED

We're celebrating the first Lady of Jazz all week with my favorites!

Here is Ella Fitzgerald, with a studio orchestra conducted and arranged by Buddy Bregman, from her album "Ella Fitzgerald Sings the Rodgers & Hart Songbook" recorded in August of 1956.

  1. She was indeed the First Lady of Song. Her interpretations, her vocal range, her classy demeanor all put her on top. Class and talent. A vibrancy for life and focus on the positive sustained her career. Thanks for the celebration! Hugs!!!

  2. "Whatever she does to my songs, she always makes them sound better." - Richard Rodgers

PS Is it just we two that sing the chorus as "Bewitched, buggered and bewildered am I"..?

  4. This rendition is exquisite and impeccable. Has everything: tone, timing, intonation, phrasing, enunciation, interpretation etc. There are great other performances by Ella with These Foolish Things being up to this standard too. Let's not forget the lyrics by Lorenz Hart - fabulous.
