The Flowers in Paris...oh, So Nice

If you asked, well, the answer is: I'd rather be in Paris. However, this was a great Philadelphia Flower Show, a tradition in Philadelphia since 1829. The Mistress had a lovely time with my suitor for the day, the handsome Merrit. A very good day indeed, and I think this years show was the best ever and one of the biggest in the country. The Eiffel Tower is the gateway to this year's show, which includes Paris cafes and courtyards, the catacombs, historic Victorian-era French gardens, rooftop and edible gardens featuring fabulous French food by local chefs, where you could sample, and of course the city's most famous museums and artists.

On the last day we got to see a live model wearing a stunning multi-tower dress made of thousands of white flowers and sprinkled with pink orchids. It was amazing to see! Hmmmmm. where do I wear one of these too?But the whole show was very interesting and oh so beautiful to see. I only wished I'd worn one of my huge chapeau's adorned with flowers!

Free lectures abound this year on topics from the gardens of Paris and Normandy to culinary herbs of France, rain gardens, edible landscaping, plants for difficult situations, great garden design, sustainable gardening, and much, much more. New varieties of popular cut flowers were featured in many displays, and there were demonstrations of how to use cut flowers for specific occasions. This is the largest indoor flower show in the country. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood too, got everybody out of the winter doldrums and in the mood for spring. There's simply nothing else like this show. Afterward it was off to Lolita. How appropriate for the Mistress right? The place is owned by a talented lesbyterian couple who know how to cook a mean and delish dinner! What a great place! After that, it was off to home so the Mistress could rest her barking dogs and enjoyed some wine with handsome date, and that's' all I'm saying! Tootles!

  3. By the time you figure tickets parking and lunch or dinner this is easily $100. It is nice to go, and it's alot of money to shell out, bit it's worth it! It's the best one I have seen in the eight years I've been going. And I though I could smell the Mistress there.

  4. Now this year looks stunning!!!I’ve been there twice, and both were a little disappointing. Figured I had just picked “off” years. Some years, like last, the show is exciting and full of inspirational ideas. I think more than anything it depends on the theme.

Amazing photos! I love everything Parisian -and what a wonderful venue. As for the dress, if Scarlet pulled it off with curtains, I see no reason...
