Warbucks was texting much yesterday as Hungary had its election. He and several friends, four, of over thousands of people who gathered on the banks of the Danube in Budapest to hear the election results come in...and after 16 years a country came to its senses and voted Orban OUT! A major blow to the Dump, with one less ally to play with in the sandbox. New Prime Minster Pete Magyar will be a fresh change of fresh air. And not bad on the eyes either!!!!
Peter Magyar ran and won on some key pillars in his platform, which included Anit-corruption and reform to tackle high level corruption and dismantle the "mafia like" operation of the current government. Will take a pro-European stance and advocates for improved relations with the EU, Stands for democratic accountability and restoring freedom of the press. And while he is conservative, he has been noted to voice support of general equality for all, but his main focus is on issues like corruption, healthcare and education and people surrounding him said that he will be friendlier to LGBTQ+ rights than many of his previous incumbents.
And he loves his dog.
Thanks heavens one country has come to its senses and voted out hate and evil. I've told Warbucks in no uncertain terms if he is invited to a gala and PM Magyar is present not to let be know at the last minute! I can't imagine how overjoyed the county must be.
Great to see Orban kicked to the curb, though I wonder if Hungary will see much improvement in governance going from a far-right to a centre-right administration. Closer alignment with the EU is a good sign!

ReplyDeleteI think the entire free world is relieved to see this. I hope the Dems are paying attention. I hope the moderate Repubs and independents here are paying attention, too. That's what it will take to oust the regime here. Then BOTH countries must find a way to ensure those mafia-type regimes can NEVER get a foothold again.

DeleteI'm so Happy for the Hungarian People! And he is easy on the Eyes, didn't realize he was such a Youngster or so Handsome. And any Guy who Loves his Dog, well, you know he is a compassionate Soul if he has a Love of Animals and for People. This shows Americans what is possible and hopefully we Vote in someone not Geriatric this time too.

Me too on both counts. I have to say, Budapest was one of the prettiest and most fun trips I've had in Europe when I went to visit Warbucks. The next visit will be pure heaven. But truth be told the last visit I saw no evidence of a ruler like Orban in office.
DeleteAnd Vance seems to be a jinkx...every time trump sends him somewhere something happens. He visited Orban- he lost, he visited Iran for peace talks- they collapsed. He went to see the last Pope- two days later he died. Jinkx I say. Keep him close to trump I say.

DeleteAnother huge loss for Trump and MAGA, but a huge win for Hungary. Now comes the hard work — trying to undo Orban’s damage and reclaiming their democracy and civil rights. It will be interesting to watch as we will need to do the same. Unless both parties keep fucking everything up. I feel we are losing faith fast in any and all of our politicians. Just look at the latest to scandals.

ReplyDeleteVery happy here Maddie!!!!!!! The guy is well spoken and genius...very intelligent. He gave a 3 HOUR presser after winning the next day... for a politician that is mind blowing. This is the first press conference in Hungary in 16 years mind you! Orban couldn't answer anything without pre-written scripts so he got rid of press conferences. I hope this gives the US hope, but I don't have any left for the US personally. Both parties are so far former shells of themselves.
ReplyDeleteI followed some of the election from here and was very impressed by Maygar. It's pretty cool that an "average guy" , young and eager to change the corrupt system won. Let's give him a chance and prove himself right and the opposition wrong. I am glad he won and looking forward to seeing the very hard work ahead to begin.
ReplyDeleteJD Vance's endorsement has really pushed Orban over the cliff,lol. Some Hungarians I read are calling it the Mascara Massacre. I wish Peter Maygar well.
ReplyDeleteI have no words to express my deep respect and admiration for this intelligent man! He should be an example for all politicians, everywhere! So clean, powerful and many deep beliefs, you can tell he loves his country! He is a true leader; he deserves all the support.
