WUN DELIGHTS

People who have seen the Mistress in drag will understand why I love designer Robert Wun. One of my trademarks was either always big hair or hair accoutrements. And if you want drama, then you came to the right place. His 2024.2025 showing during Paris week was nothing short of jaw dropping and unexpected delight. To celebrate his tenth anniversary, he presented a stunning collection called "Time". The collection was a meditation on the acceptance of finitude; a concept this designer embraces to fuel his creative process. And it came through in this elaborate and flamboyant showing, not to mention each piece testifying to his craftsmanship and visionary approach. I adored the progression of the season too and it was artistically done...right down to the visible burns on the hems to symbolize the inevitable erosion of time. What a showing to create for his 10th year.

Spectacular!

  1. These are fabulous. I was scrolling and thinking, Oh I love that first look--oh, wait, that second look ... dear god the third look and so on and on.
They're works of art and give me Gilded Age fashion set on its ear!

    1. What Id gave to have worn some of them for a drag show! And it's rare for me to not be able to pick a favorite...these are all showstoppers.

  2. Beautiful theatrical outfits; any one of them beats the rubbish shown at so-called "fashion" shows.

    1. I agree Helen. Some of these new designers, for me anyhow, are surpassing those of the legendary houses.

  3. All the trains might give the impression of wedding gowns. Some stunning pieces. Loved the skeletal one, though. Yeah, the progression through the seasons was brilliant.

    1. And I love that Wun and other designers are doing the simple runways...if the garments are this good, there is no need for extra propping, sets, elaborate venues. I ADORED the trains. And I loved many of the oversized "corsages" on the gowns.

  6. Spectacular indeed.
I'm thankful that in these harsh times we live we still can turn to artists to remind ourselves of the beauty us humans are capable to create and share.
I very much liked the pieces made of velvet breakdown btw, a fabric that's not so often used though so classy.
And this show could have been named "Alien Queens Gathering".

    1. Laurent...I completely agree with you. In all this muck and dankness...fashion and art will rail against the darkness. I too agree about those crushed velvet garments....so sleek, luxe and rich. Not an easy fabric to make move like that. It could have gone very wrong. With these garments I'd have no problem being an Alien Queen.

  7. He is new to me, so thank you for showing this. Absolutely stunning. I’ve never experienced actual emotions while watching a fashion show. What a privilege to even witness such a masterpiece of design and production. Color and excellent craftsmanship....the fabric moves like liquid. I adored the trains on the garments too. Truly spectacular.

  9. Truly at a loss for words… There aren’t enough to describe the beauty in every single moment...and movement. The colors so vibrant. Hell, I'd wear the one multicolored suit on the street everyday.

  10. I don't know much about haute couture, but I can tell you this....This has to be one of the best shows I’ve ever seen in my life! This beyond words. Very powerful creativity. I literally watched it twice.

  11. One of the first fashion shows where I don't give a crap about the model's race, skin color or even their walk brecause none of that matters in this show. How many shows deliberately show you the back of the fashion?? It's all about the art..not the three dimensional art but the 5th dimensional, out of this world beyond art this achieves..mind blowing!

  12. At the 3:18 and 3:27.... Werk!!! The dress, the collar, the head piece, the sleeves with the built-in glove with nails, the fabric, the shoes, the backdrop! I'm here for all of it. This IS Fierce!!

  13. Fantastic!
I love a look with gloves. The models seem to be submerged in color. Love the cut and the movement of the garments. They seem to move freely, even though we know they’re engineered to an inch of their existence. The red one? With the butterflies? A dream.

    XOXO

  14. Omg the silhouettes are just phenomenal. I'm just gagging on these garments
I clapped when Robert Wun came out in the end, and I wasn’t even there! Good on him for a great showing. He is the first ever designer from Hong Kong to ever show a collection during Fashion Week...not to mention he is an adorable little pocket gem!
