BUMBLE DEDICATION

Yesterday, while toiling and dead heading in the garden, I came across this poor bumble. In a beautiful zinnia, collecting pollen, and had died doing its job. That is dedication. I was happy at least it passed in a beautiful bloom.

  1. It might be sleeping - they do this often. However, if it has indeed died, that pretty flower's a good send-off! Jx

    1. It was dead. I lifted him out and placed in a potted plant so no bird would eat it.

Without our bumble bee friends no flowers and no food as their numbers have crashed. Unless everyone wants to pollinate flowers, fruit and nut trees and other plants by hand.
Bumble bees were once found in 47 states, now only found in 35 states with a 90% decline in numbers in just the past two decades.
Luv your bumbles and let them thrive for their sake and ours.

    1. I get bumbles and honeybees both in my garden CA Jock. I love when they fly around me when I'm pruning the dead heads off. Sadly, lightening bugs are too facing large declining numbers, from pesticides being used. Luckily, they are still plentiful here and add to our summer nights.

  3. My immediate reaction was to look away. Bumblebees are gentle and wonderful but, still, they can kill me. Anyway, I read your post. Interestingly, bumblebees do sleep in flowers. This one sure looks healthy. I hope she was having a snooze and flew happily away moments later.

    1. Yes, I have seen them sleeping in flowers, but alas, this one passed on. I also noticed they will also get water at the birdbaths. That's always fun to see too. I have four birdbaths now.

  7. A touching post! How many bees get such send notoriety? And argue all you want, yous one of the most thoughtful caring people I "met".
