What a weekend! As Maria from Westside Story sang, " I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and gay!" Another great Pride event attended from what I heard, by over 3 million. It was a long day, but well worth it. The drive back was murder. For the first time in history DC hosted the World Pride, after a month of events and ending yesterday. While there was some libations and dancing with the Clan, we have to keep in mind this is also a call to action amidst heightened political tension, being visible and celebrate our freedom and promote equality. It's worth remembering that pride began as a radical act of protest, and this history is more relevant than ever today. We cannot ignore that it's rough for our community, especially our trans brothers and sisters. Under a second Dump presidency LGBTQ is and will further be under siege. We've already seen how the Kennedy Center, a beacon of culture, has been scrubbed clean of queer voices. Donations dropping for big time. Programs being cancelled and artists silenced. It's becoming a MAGA bastion, which the dump said he'd do. Attend a Pride if you can.
This is no longer just a good time and parade. It's a response. Now a breather.....
Happy Pride.
ReplyDeletePride was a riot and will be so again. It needs to be.
If the current Administration keeps things up like they're going, I can tell you there's going to be some bricks flying again.
DeleteThose pink tennis balls did make me laugh.
ReplyDeleteDoes Howie play with balls? I bet he would love some pink ones.
DeleteLove the dog nose in the middle of those tennis balls. Adorable!
ReplyDeleteAs the Kennedy Center presented some poorly attended BS counter-programming to the Tony Awards, Cole Escola showed what can be accomplished with inclusion with "Oh, Mary!". Bravo!
Happy Pride.
I would have loved to seen him in that play "Oh, Mary"! I've not heard one bad thing about it. And I might add a very creative concept.
DeleteThat "Pride is a riot" could be an invite for Donald Duck (on meths?), under the malign influence of Stephen Miller, to send in the military to annihilate peaceful people celebrating their human rights.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny you should mention that Helen. Because I do have a brick with the dumps name on it.
DeleteWe need to strut our stuff more than ever now!
ReplyDeleteBe like Marilyn and Jane, take what you got and strut that stuff, children. Shake your booty AND your groove thing like they did in the 70s. Don't sashay away, sashay like your here to stay. Be like Cindi Lauper and see others' true colors. This is our year to shine and be seen like never before, like our lives depend on it...because it DOES!
ReplyDeleteWell I have to tell you, after being to three Prides now we are definitely Shining. Attendance to all three was amazing. Philadelphia had more than I'd ever seen.
DeleteHappy Pride!
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to other-gender-fantasizing, I normally would rather be Marilyn than Jane, but in that particular clip, I'd choose Jane. I just like her strut (and dress) there.
ReplyDeleteI plan to work a booth at a Pride fest this coming Saturday.
If you're going to be at the kissing booth I'll be there.
DeleteThank you for a beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteLorelei and Dorothy! Now that's the way to make an entrance...
ReplyDeleteIt's our chance to shine at Pride London in three weeks' time - just such a shame Pride parades are so full of hangers-on these days, there more to promote their employers' brand than to actually stand up and be counted and put their money where their mouth is! However, if numbers count, then count me in!
Jx
I don't know about DC, but Philly did a very good job this year limiting the corporate bull shit and sponsoring. Every year it's starting to feel more like a grassroots Pride Parade like they did years ago. The community is finally waking up and not accepting this bull crap not to mention their two facing.
DeleteAnd a happy pride to you! I little Queen Sir Jet to carry us along!

Oh, wow! Corporal Klinger's been to the gym! Jx
DeleteI used to love me some Sir Jett!!! I love this as I haven't seen much of his music yet, and boys that we can pack a punch if you know what I'm saying. vlad the Impaler comes to mind.
DeleteJon....LOL!!!!! That made me laugh.
Happy Pride!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun! (I did too! Milwaukee was a blast!) and you are right, showing up is necessary especially during these times when Mango Mussolini's administration is trying to eff us over. Because if they come for one of us, they'll come for ALL OF US.
XOXO
Absolutely. By the end of Pride season I'm sure going to be wiped out. But it will all be worth it. I have three more to go.
DeleteHappy Pride 🩷💜💙
ReplyDeleteI love your Pride Mood boards. And that boy with his legs up?!?! I also still listening to the Madonna remix! That was excellent.
ReplyDeleteThat is Danny Fantasy! Very sexy..and very naughty.
DeleteThanks for sharing that name. He is adorable and that picture is hot.
DeleteHappy Pride. Everything looks so delicious.
ReplyDeleteA Great Pride Month to everyone 🏳️🌈
ReplyDeleteFelon Trump is playing with fire in L.A. and he’s gonna get burned.
Luv it when MAGAs go on about the rioters of L.A.
and forget about the Maga traitors of January 6th.
-CA jock
I've been seeing what's been going on out there CA jock. Please be careful out there. We don't need anything happening to your pretty little ass!
DeletePRIDE BELLINGHAM 2025
ReplyDeleteA beautiful, colorful mood board! My favorite is the doggy nose in the middle of the pink tennis balls.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Janie
I love that one too Janie. I also like the pink tennis balls. I figured pink was better than blue balls, LOL!
DeleteHahahahaha! You're too much.
DeleteLove those pink glitter balls! I want one!
ReplyDeleteSx
Welcome the Gayborhood.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great mood board for pride, I'm willing to try all those ice cream flavors. They're sort of a lot of things to lick in this post aren't there?
ReplyDeleteAnother great mood board, Maddie! Love the doggy nose among the pink tennis balls and the ice cream rainbow! Did you know that dyed mashed potatoes are used in place of ice cream at photo shoots? Guess the real thing melts too fast under studio lights...
