LATE NIGHT-PRIDE DANCE

Well, it looks like Pride Month has come to an end.  Just had to end the month with a late-night dance party in the memory of our dear Anne Marie who was a staunch supporter and ally...and the fight isn't over...it may just be beginning again. Now get those cha -cha heels on and let's get dancing!!!!!!

  1. Oh my god. This would be a good day for ironing. All I have to do is play your post for entertainment.

  2. Some amazing songs here that I know, and some that I don't - I'll pop on this playlist later on as it's early morning here. Thanks, Maddie!

  5. You slipped in ABBA. Anne Marie would not be amused. lol
My flag is still up in the front yard as the "Don't Say Gay" law just went in to effect. I think it will stay up for a while.

    1. The smart ass I am if I lived there ...next to the Pride flag would be another flat with the word gay all over it.

  6. Anne Marie would approve! (except for the ABBA one, of course)

    1. Yep. I always liked teasing her with one. I'll never forget our last lunch together....I a show up wearing my mask and plastic bejeweled gloves and a ABBA song came on. She just rolled her eyes and said Oh fuck me! But later said it was one ABBA song she could take.

  7. Thanks, though you missed "It's raining men," I think.

    1. Would you believe I like the song but was never a huge fan of it.

  8. Out of 27 songs, I know 7. Definitely living in Stodge City, the capital of Fogeyville. Since everything has already been said about Carebear and her hatred (putting it mildly) of all things ABBA, I won't pile on.
Would it be wrong to admit that I like this Sister Sledge song way more than We Are Family? Well, I do and always have.

    2. You aint fogeyville gurl...you can dance with me...we'll shake it. Never mind things shake on me that shouldn't. Just go wit it.

    3. Fogey! Hell no. I don't know many of these either Deedles, but William and I did dance to the disco classics. We saw many perform in person in NYC clubs back in the day...and even "partied" with the gay boys well into the early 90's. I can do our old lady side shuffle together with the Empress.

    4. Hugs to you Empress and Ms Agnes. You're both sweet and lively! I was a fogey from birth so I'm used to it. Can't dance, never could. I love music and how it enters me at home. In public, rhythm shuns me and I paralyze. Always have. No biggie. I love music with words I can understand more so than dance rhythms, which is probably why I enjoy pre-disco Bee Gees more. Empress, these days jiggling throws my back out so shaking is out of the question!

  9. Great selection Maddie. And it always warms my heart anytime anyone references our belated warrior queen and friend.

  11. Ladies and gentlemen, this is disco and House. Much better than what passes for dance music, now... 20 years later.

  12. Some of the most amazing grooves ever. The long-playing list of house and disco is ever better is even better! Always loved Sophie Ellis Bextor....she has a classical, elegant beauty

  17. Oh Mistress, I can remember being at the Pallidum for many of these jigs!!! And when that Cyndi Lauper song, Come on Home started...the Queens went nuts!!!!!!! Junior sure knew how to get the crowd into a frenzy. Ill be listening to this all afternoon. You a good dj

    1. The Pallidum was one of the most opulent and best clubs I have ever spent nights!!!!!! That place was just pure euphoria. 5 levels in an opulent old theater dancing and cavorting for 5 to 7 hours was just insane. How could it get any better???? I was even there for it's final night, The Wreaking Ball Party. A sad day.

  18. I really think this is when musical artistry peaked as well as talent. We lived an amazing time on the dance floors and in clubs around the world. A real global community culture of music lovers. The younger people have no idea what "clubbing " was like. Church and camp...hand in hand.

You certainly got my big ole ass dancing gurl.

    1. I think your right. The 90's and early 2000's had the best dance music ever. And the DJ were off the hook. The likes of Frankie Knuckles, Louie DeVito, Danny Tenaglia, Pete Tong and the most fabulous ever Junior Vasquez....that man put me into a trance too many times to mention gurl.

  19. Does it count If I was heading out and dancing to the disco sections? I might be old and don't know many of these, but they do give life, and you keep me on the pulse of things and music. Many of these I admit got me foot tapping.

Perfect playlist!!! Mistress, you have taken an old man back and feel like a kid again. Reminds me of the tea dances I used to go too. I nice mix of old and new and nothing like throwing in some old disco. I enjoyed this.

  23. When that song came out...my friends used to yell Maddie O Maddie O instead of daddy O in the song, while on the dance floor. Enjoy the list!

  25. Late to the party, as ever [I have my excuses - one helluva Pride weekend!]...

You've chosen some absolute corkers in the selection, Mads - there are one or two unfamiliar ones here, however, that I am going to have to catch up with shortly! Jx

PS I can hear the dulcet tones of Anne Marie shouting "fuck Abba!" as we speak.
